Why I believe Cena's win was necessary.....

I'm hearing a lot of chatter about how Brock Lesnar losing was bad for business since he's coming back from an 8 year absense, and now instead of seeming like a big threat to everyone else, he now just seems like a regular superstar losing his first match back....I disagree. Here's why.....

John Cena really needed this win, he's been on a losing streak, and for the face of the WWE, that's just not good. He doesn't need to come across as the guy who all these big guys who are returning will just plow over to make an impact. Yes, he lost to the Rock, that was to be expected. But Brock Lesnar...everyone on God's green earth expected Brock Lesnar to come in, wrestle once a month, win all his matches, and just destroy people. Cena beating Lesnar was a welcome twist imo. This doesn't take anything from Lesnar, especially since Cena seemingly won by LUCK after being dominated the entire match. Lesnar put on the most offense, looked the most impressive in this match, and even though he lost, he still looked like the winner in the end. If Cena really takes time off to heal his nagging injuries, then they can do a storyline with Lesnar saying he put Cena on the shelf, that maybe he didn't get the 3 count, but really he still won because he's the one who can still compete. Losing a match because of one move after dominating the entire match doesn't make him look any less dangerous. Plus, if Cena is taking time off, and if they do an injury angle, it's different, because usually they make the "injured" person lose because they are "injured" it's a slightly different twist, and I for one believe that WWE is taking a step in the right direction with this. Maybe it will give us a chance to sit back and enjoy the show rather than talking about the backstage politics of "why they booked that" like we've been doing over the past number of years.

I would hardly call two matches a streak.

To me Lesner winning would have been better, they could have more 'realisticly' wrote Cena off, then had him come back with more aggression. And Lesner Losing just made him look weak IMO even though he dominated the match he was felled in one punch and an AA.

Yeah I don't think it was necessarily necessary. Memories are short in the minds of wrestling fans and if Cena was to have gotten beaten 2 PPV's in a row, as high profile as they were, give him 5-6 months off and noone will care enough to remember - at least in the way people are suggesting, like he's this sort of mega-man who's tarnished forever if that was to happen.

No, I think it would be better to remind people that Cena is indeed human, maybe even garnering further fans in the process. Then, like the proverbial phoenix, he returns, rising from the ashes of his destruction and own self doubt to make a triumphant return. I think an angle like that would resonate much more with fans

cena was on a 3 match losing streak. you forgot tensai dude.

anyway if cena really is taking time off, brock will be able to shine more brightly by dominating for the majority of the year and then facing cena in a rematch when he does come back.

I still don't think it makes him look weak. A chain to the face and an AA on top of the steps isn't something anyone should kick out of, plus he did dominate the entire match, made Cena bleed from an elbow right in the opening moments, and shook off a possible knee injury when he flipped over the top rope onto the floor. Sometimes a loss makes someone even more dangerous, because you know what's going to happen, Brock's going to start destroying people now. He's angry because he lost. I think it's a perfect scenario for him. He came back over confident and cocky, so he lost, now he's going to be angry and you won't like him when he's angry....

Too bad the demographic is 18-34.
You know, WWE has the power to not make Cena lose 2 straight PPV events. They could've booked this feud for Over the Limit or better, SummerSlam.

If Cena takes a lot of time off, when he does come back, Brock will have dominated everyone in his path and now he see's Cena as that guy he didn't beat and will want a rematch. long term storyline continuation.

I could not believe that they made Super Cena beat Brock, an ass kicker who just got out of an actual combat sport, his first match back in 8 years, but after I slept on it I couldn't agree more that it was the right thing to do especially when Cena returns. There's no point in having Lesnar win their first one/two fights and put Cena over at a major PPV before WM29 when Lesnar SHOULD have the most momentum of the whole roster going into WM29. Have him beat Cena at either Summerslam, Survior Series, or Royal Rumble...where he goes to Mania to face the only guy left, The Rock. Can you say record ppv buys?

Tonight I think Triple H is gonna address Brock's "Demands" and put him in his place, thus angering Lesnar and having him dominate LEGIT midcard-main event stars till Summerslam. I mean what else is creative gonna do with Orton/Miz/Del Rio/Christian/Henry/Show?(to name a few) HHH vs Lesnar Summerslam anyone? Because I for one am sick and tired of squash matches EVERY week on RAW and i refuse to watch 6 months of Kofi Ryder and Truth jobbing to Lesnar.

remember brock lost his first match in UFC only to dominate the heavyweight division for a while, so they might be recreating that idea and hes going to be unstoppable going forward
