John Cena really needed this win, he's been on a losing streak, and for the face of the WWE, that's just not good. He doesn't need to come across as the guy who all these big guys who are returning will just plow over to make an impact. Yes, he lost to the Rock, that was to be expected. But Brock Lesnar...everyone on God's green earth expected Brock Lesnar to come in, wrestle once a month, win all his matches, and just destroy people. Cena beating Lesnar was a welcome twist imo. This doesn't take anything from Lesnar, especially since Cena seemingly won by LUCK after being dominated the entire match. Lesnar put on the most offense, looked the most impressive in this match, and even though he lost, he still looked like the winner in the end. If Cena really takes time off to heal his nagging injuries, then they can do a storyline with Lesnar saying he put Cena on the shelf, that maybe he didn't get the 3 count, but really he still won because he's the one who can still compete. Losing a match because of one move after dominating the entire match doesn't make him look any less dangerous. Plus, if Cena is taking time off, and if they do an injury angle, it's different, because usually they make the "injured" person lose because they are "injured" it's a slightly different twist, and I for one believe that WWE is taking a step in the right direction with this. Maybe it will give us a chance to sit back and enjoy the show rather than talking about the backstage politics of "why they booked that" like we've been doing over the past number of years.
Really? The last time John Cena lost a match clean was over 2 years ago at Elimination Chamber when he "faced" Batista AFTER an elimination chamber. And as you saw with Raw - WWE haven't done what you hoped they would have, rather predictably might I add.
It's funny how, since the Rock/Cena promos of February, people have been feeling sorry for the Doctor of Thuganomics - as if one clean loss is the end of the much loathed "Super Cena". He lost one match clean. Any other loss, if unclean, doesn't damage his credibility.
Really what this is is the most successful work of all time - Rock v Cena (the promos, build up and loss) temporarily repackaged Cena from Super Cena to "hard working, giving all to the company and vulnerable Cena" while letting The Rock have his win. Now the E can shove Super Cena back down our throats without us realising that they are - an awesome and commendable work. And OP's post is a testament to it!
