He came after CM Punk, and became #1 contender for the WWE Championship, and go to Wrestlemania. At Wrestlemania he LOST CLEAN to the Champ CM Punk. Not only that, he TAPPED OUT. Then things got quite personal between him and Punk, and got himself another match for the championship, this time at EXTREME RULES. Jericho lost clean AGAIN, and it looks like he's pretty much OUT of the tittle shot, at least.
What now for Jericho? Did he come back just
to ESTABLISH CM Punk...as a the face of the WWE?
That's my question...
Probably, yes. Jericho has gone on record several times with his desire to help establish the next generation of stars, just like he tried to do with that short program he had with Evan Bourne, so it makes sense.
Really, his career is to the point now where there isn't a whole lot to add except for number of title reigns, and he doesn't seem to care as much about that as he does giving back to the company, which I think is the perfect attitude for a vet like him to have.
the WWE needs established vets to bring the new guys up, just like Jake the Snake did for SCSA, and Farooq did for The Rock. Jericho is absolutely perfect for that role, and seems to enjoy doing it, so why not?
Also if the rumors are true and he is going to be going n tour again soon, why bother with a short title reign?
