Help me decide on a good new laptop!

My laptop is getting old and broken, so I'm looking a good new laptop! Here's what I'm looking for:

    Price: $600 or lower
Size: Mobile when necessary (I don't move it a lot outside of my home)
    Brand: PC
What I want to be able to do with it:
    1) Normal laptop-ee stuff. Microsoft Office, etc, etc.
    2) I wanna be able to game on it. I don't need top shelf stuff, but I'd like to be able to run, say, Minecraft or pretty much anything on Steam on standard specs without problems.

Being able to run games well without going over $600 is the hard part. I don't know a lot about laptop specs, so I'm hoping someone here does.

Wanna know what I did? I have a shelf behind my couch and a coffee table. So, I bought a regular computer, 25 inch flat screen monitor x 2, a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse. Then I put the tower on the shelf and the rest was kept on the table. I have my 360 hooked up to the one monitor. Now I have one helluva man cave in my living room.

That would be awesome if I had any space left in my room :/ I literally have one milk crate left that I set my laptop on when I go to bed.

    Save more money.

You won't get a Laptop that'll be decent enough for the games at that price. If you can, I'll be surprised.

Dell's outlet would beg to differ

    here's a link
    http://www.dell.com/us/dfh/p/laptops

look for an XPS or Inspiron, and you should be OK. It won't be top of the line, but it will do everything you need (and the xps's are nicely upgradable, for a laptop)

I have bought 5 computers from the Dell Outlet, and have not had a significant issue with any of them (worse one was a laptop that was missing the little XPS logo)

Dell is usually the best choice, but they are usually the most, you can find some for below 600 but not with everything you might need....... But if you want something cheap Acer would be the best choice...
We all judge others even if it isn't our place to judge, but supposedly at the end we are all judged by one!!!

Keep an eye on http://www.newegg.com/ They always have great sales.

As far as brands go, Acer and Asus have really stepped up in recent years. The Toshiba Satellite series is also really nice (It's what I currently have).

And whatever you do, stay away from Dell.

Acer is Gateway, and I still hate them
so that makes me a bit biased.

Gateway can eat my balls and a couple years ago I would have never recommended buying an Acer device.

But for being relatively cheap laptops, they're great machines.

I used to work tech support for Gateway (Actually was my first tech support gig) I hated every minute of it, and not because of the customers, I just completely hate all the policies Gateway follows that end up pissing the customers off, and they're RMA process is utter and complete shit.
