A good heel push is being able to get away with the victory, with your opponent either unable to move in the ring thanks to your cheat or upset in the ring that they failed to deliver what they promised. The way this ended, it made Roode seem lucky to win the way he did, as Sting still dominated him after losing the match. It's like Miz/Cena: where despite getting the victory, no one really took it seriously (sad to say).
In short: this didn't made Roode look like a dominate heel, it made Sting still look like a credible opponent for the title.
