From 1993-2002 an annual tradition of the WWE was to crown a new King of the Ring. It took a 4 year hiatus and returned in 2006 but since bringing it back has only happens every two years. If the WWE continued to hold the tournament annually who do you think would have made good winner for the years it wasn't held?
Here's my list:
2003: Randy Orton
2004: John Cena
2005: Shelton Benjamin
2007: MVP
2009: John Morrison
2011: Wade Barrett
If you take into account that the winner would have received a push afterwards, the landscape might be quite different today if some of those guys had won

Yeah that was my thinking behind picking those names. At the time these guys were really hot in the mid card scene so to win something as prestigious as KOTR would have help them break into the main event scene. If WWE had allowed this to happen the main event scene nowadays wouldn't look so thin.
