Would you rather have it load between backstage areas or just omit the entire backstage area completely? For me, because I don't play Road to Wrestlemania nor create storylines, it's like the backstage areas don't exist at all for me. I miss the backstage areas.
The lack of storylines have been murdering the recent games for me. This is what happens when voice acting comes into play... now they'll never ever have storylines like they used to because they can't bare to have text boxes for speech. Now with voice acting, storylines are narrowed down to one specific character per voice rather than a text string promo that practically any heel on the roster can use(thus you can have the same feud with multiple characters). The amount of audio in the game would be insane if they tried to cover every base with mostly every superstar.
Case in point: Feud A begins with a run-in during one of your matches. Big Show for whatever reason has beef with you. The next week, your character's in the ring cutting a promo on what happened, and calls Big Show out. The two of you talk back and forth.
With voice acting, this is completely shoehorned into being a feud with the Big Show. If you had text, Big Show could be replaced with any heel... unless you're willing to have every superstar record the same dialogue for this entire feud(which adds up fast). Text by comparison takes up a miniscule amount of disc space. Obviously it doesn't make sense to use someone else's voice for the Big Show, that would be beyond stupid.
On a side note, how cool would it be in situations like this to be able to pick your dialogue like the Bioware games and have both match results and dialogue choices determine storyline progression/outcomes?
