Let me take you on a little trip that happen 20+ years ago so I may not be 100% correct with this but I am pretty damn close.

NWA World Champion Ric Flair was working with Mid-South. He had been taken to the limit by Butch Reed. Flair put in a condition that he would only defend the world title againt the #1 contender and the #1 contender is the North American Champion. At the time Dick Murdock is the NA champion. Reed defeats Murdock for the NA title and becomes the #1 contender to the NWA World Title. Flair hires Dick Slater to take out Reed and he does. Ted Dibiase ruled to be the new #1 contender and this does not set well with Murdock since he is the man Reed beat for the NA title. Here's what happened next....

This should rightly go in Blasts From The Past thread, it's definitely worthy. Murdoch sure looks like he hits DiBiase with a potato shot when Ted calls him yesterdays headline, then appears to remove something from his wrist tape, I'm not sure if he blades DiBiase himself or that shot into the ringpost does it, but it sure looks like Ted connects.

Great era of wrestling this.
