Urijah Faber's 5th straight title defeat not only marks the possible end of Faber as a title contender, but only further confirms the end of the WEC old guard in Faber and Miguel Torres. Faber has already made a public statement that he will not drop to Flyweight, instead he plans to either stay at 135 lbs in the Bantamweight division and work his way back up the ranks. (Although he still believes he's in the top 5). Or he might move up to Featherweight @ 145 lbs. He said that after weigh ins he put on 18 lbs which is a more natural weight for Faber. But if he couldn't beat Barao, then he doesn't have much of a chance at defeating Jose Aldo IMO. I have to give Faber props for continuing the fight since early in the fight a knee from Barao broke Faber's ribs. Here's a pic of Faber's x-ray showing his broken rib:
Also Dana White has stated that he will not force Barao to defend the title unless he wants to do so until Cruz comes back from injury. Dana was really embarrassed about how 149 event main card went down. He expected more for the fans and believes that his fighters let us all down. That being said, here's some match ups I feel could happen with the main card fighters from UFC 149 courtesy of Tim Burke from Bloody Elbow -
