How Did They Make It Big?
Ever looked at a wrestler and thought to yourself, "How on earth did they get so far?". Guys who either lack the skills or the look - or both - yet have made it to at least the upper mid card? There's a few that I could never figure out;
Tommy Rich. Apparently he bought in the ladies who liked his 'pretty boy' good looks but the guy looked like he never worked out a day in his life and he was no great shakes in the ring either. Famous for holding the NWA world title for (I think) only 6 days, he kept plugging away and getting jobs for years. I could never figure out the appeal.
Lex Luger. Zero charisma and no natural wrestling ability. Never made sense to me. I think they eventually figured out "The Total Package" was an empty package.
Tito Santana. Santana makes me think of the colour beige. He was very plain, meat and potatoes type wrestler. He was always boring to me.Picture me like this....

08-05-2012, 07:49 PM #3John Tenta (EarthQuake/Great White Shark i think in WCW) - King Kong Bundy had more mic skilsl and ring awareness, so I understand him, but Tenta was just pure size and had nothing to offer outside of that. How did he win the WWF title and Piper never did?
Rhyno - Guy was interesting and something "new" in ECW... But the gimmick got old REAL quick. Never really evolved into anything else.
The Nasty Boys - Seriously, a great "brawler" team, but they are shit on the mic and suck without a mouth piece. They were quite dangerous to work with in the ring as well because they legitamately knew less about how to wrestle than Nick Hogan.
Ed Leslie (Brutus the Barber/Zodiac) - I am sure it's just his ties to Hogan that got him his spot.
Eric Watts - Same as before but with his dad (*Cough* Garrett Bischoff *Cough*). The guy is the shits in the ring, the shits on the mic, and his personality is the shits.
Dino Bravo - I am sorry, I have heard the arguements for, but this guy was boring... Plain and simple.
Tatanka - Hated him on the mic. Hated him in the ring. The most interesting thing he ever did was turn on Luger at SummerSlam and join the Million Dollar Man's stable... But he was soon forgetten.

08-08-2012, 06:48 AM #7You are correct. I am thinking SS 1990 when he faced the Hulkster. Hogan won via countout which was followed by Earthquake proceeding to leave him squashed in the ring. He didn't win the title, but he was the one who walked away from the battle in the ring. My bad for the mix up in calling him a "world title" winner. I'll give my list, most of these wrestlers became stars in the 90's.
Steve Mongo McMichael- How he became a member of a legendary group like the 4 Horsemen is beyond me. Classic WCW at it's best.
DDP- Not a great wrestler and not good at cutting promos. Being friends with Bischoff I guess paid off for him.
Ultimate Warrior- Promos were awful and so was his wrestling skills. What got him to the top, I'm guessing his look.
Kevin Nash- This guy is a joke. 7 moves and not too much charisma. I lost all respect for him when I read his comments about Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero not being main event material and also taking shots at CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. All of them had or have more wrestling talent in their pinky finger then Nash does in his entire body.

Zero wrestling ability. Horrible at cutting promos. He just had the bodybuilder look and then they slapped on some paint and tassels, and then everyone thought he was the coolest thing ever.

Pains me to remember that he's been a World Heavyweight Champion while other wrestlers such as Pipper, Christian (until recently) had never won a single World title. Given that title simply because he was 7"4 and was an attraction.
