This DVD event was a bonus disc to Rise & Prove, so my expectations going into it weren't too high. And that was a good job too, as it wasn't exactly a stellar card, especially with the card even further reduced as Eddie Edwards had a staph infection so Grizzly Redwood had to stand in for him against Bennett.
1. Andy Ridge vs Kenny King: **1/2
2. Mike Bennett vs Grizzly Redwood: *1/2
3. Kevin Steen vs Adam Cole: ***
4. ROH World Tag Team Champions: The Briscoes vs Coleman & Alexander: ***
5. WGTT vs A1: 1/4*
6. Proving Ground Match: Jay Lethal vs Tomasso Ciampa: ***
7. ROH World Tag Team Champion Shot: Team Ambition vs House Of Truth: ****
It was basically a one match card, but the main event really was great. Briscoes vs. C&A was fun, but a little too short, and I expected a bit more from Cole vs. Steen but that was Cole's third match in the two days, so I guess he wasn't quite at the top of his game. Lethal vs. Ciampa was decent, but nothing special, much like most Leathal matches seem to be.
WGTT vs. A1 was the only bad match on the card. But it was really bad, their timiming was really off. Bennett vs. Redwood only went about 5 minutes, but was okay for what it was. King had to carry Ridge in the opener, but he's getting better.
The main event was about a half hour of total nonstop action and was really good. They didn't go over the top (like Final Battle) but there was never a dull moment. It was another match that really got Elgin over as a top guy, and O'Reilly looked good too. Pity about the finish (Martini book of Truth miscommunication, hits Roddy, O'Reilly rolls him up), a good finish could have upped it about half a star.
Onto the prediction contest results:
1st - Cabers - 105
2nd - Dr Death - 82
3rd - Giddy - 80
4th - VanHooliganX - 79
5th - jordan1995 - 76
6th - Robareid - 66
7th - MattTY2JHBK - 57
So congratulations to Cabers for yet ANOTHER win for Cabers this year, you're running away with the overall results. Dr Death did well too, and there may be a fair few changes to the overall standings.
