Hogan was way more populair than Cena, still is in some parts of the world. Back in the Dutchlands (Netherlands) few know who Cena is, way more of them know who Hulk Hogan is. In terms of popularity Hogan >>>>>> Cena. (I don't say I like the guy know, only thing I want him is to come back to the WWE and do one more awful match and leave the wrestling itself forever aloone.)
    Wait for the next time...

Obviously Vince has the ability to make another Hogan/Austin/Cena, but it all depends on how the audience reacts to them. If they don't connect with the fans the character is doomed. So as much as the characters of Hogan/Austin/Cean may or may not have been Vince's idea, make no mistake about it, it was them that made it work with their charisma. Just depends on if you have got "IT". Vince has also pushed many guys that no one cared about (recently Del Rio and Tensai) and they are nowhere near the levels of Hogan/Austin/Cena

Why rush when they already have Cena? They will start bringing the next guy through soon, but you won't know until he's blown up. Personally, i had a feeling that Cena would be big (same with Orton) as neither of them really stalled at all. They just rose through the ranks steadily until there was a space at the top. Cena and Orton came through at a time when the previous top two, The Rock/Austin, were leaving (Batista was the third that was pushed to the top). When Orton and Cena start dwindling down their careers, you will start to see one or two being pushed towards the main event. This won't happen for the next 3 years.

I'm not giving Vince full credit for Hulk. Hulkamania was in full effect in the AWA before Vince stole him.

I'm not giving Vince full credit for SCSA or we would have had The Ringmaster.

I'll give Vince Credit for HBK, Cena, Triple H, Rock and most of the current roster now, cause there isn't as many promotions anymore for Vince to feed off of.

they base cena gimmick off him rapping in old videos before he was a wrestler. people in wwe and ex wwe guys say that cena is cena. he is what he is on tv.

I believe Jeff Hardy was suppose to be that guy back in 08. But I believe this guy Vince could be looking for is NXT's Seth Rollins. Right now Seth is a little green but so was Cena in the beginning. It's just something about Seth that i see which could make him like a Jeff Hardy without the drugs.

While you do have a point that the WWE can very well make another drawing machine, there hasn't been anyone to ever reach the magnitude of Hulk Hogan, yet however. Some can say Stone Cold has but that's often debatable as well.

I'm sure Vince has stated many times (even when Hulk was back in WWE) that Stone Cold was the greatest superstar ever. There's also the fact that when Hogan was in WWE (originally), they were in less homes worldwide (pretty sure only several countries got WWE programming in the 90s) that in Austin's time (AE is when they started going international on the larger scale- which is why WWF sued them). Also, TV ratings for Raw in the late 90s hit 9.0 WEEKLY!
I'd say Austin/Hogan/Rock. When you talk about wrestling, even people who never watched it before would have heard of those three names. Cena, not so much.

Cena's this generation's Hogan, so it's possible to re-create something.
Don't you think Vince should be doing that all the time then? I agree with you, and I feel like everyone on the roster has the desire for it.

While I do think Stone Cold is one of the greatest of all time and was a huge draw in the wrestling industry and no one today will even reach his level, I just don't think he was on Hogan's level. He was close but not really there. With the rock and wrestling connection, selling out MSG countless times, being the most requested celeb of the 80's for the Make-A-Wish foundation, and being featured on the Sports Illustrated cover, Hulk Hogan's popularity was on another level. Plus, Hogan's match with Andre at the Main Event drew in 15.2 a rating. The highest rated match Stone Cold was involved in drew in a 9.2 rating and that match was Stone Cold, The Rock, and Vince Mcmahon vs Triple H, The Undertaker, and Shane Mcmahon with Shawn Michaels as a special guest ref. That says a lot about Hogan's popularity in the 80's.
