Going into the final segment of Raw, I have to say that I was pretty tuned out into almost everything that was going on due to the news about the King. Given the circumstances, I was pretty sure that there was nothing that could turn around the somber feeling of the show, but things changed pretty drastically. For all the negative things that I've though about Cena, over the course of this year, I've changed how I felt about him. I used to classify him as Super Cena, boring, unable to wrestle, etc., but that's all changed. He had a, dare I say, classic match with the Rock, he took a legit beating from Brock Lesnar and tonight he delivered one of the most inspiring promos going into a PPV that I've seen in a while.
Punk is no doubt a great talker, but tonight showed me that John Cena may even be a little better. The crowd was against him at the beginning of the segment and this just wasn't any crowd. I respect the Canadian crowd as true wrestling fans for some reason. Maybe it's because of their impact on the Hogan vs Rock WM 18 classic. He was able to get a true wrestling crowd to sway to his side by the intensity, the realness and even the classic Cena homer tactics, which weren't even cheesy tonight. For as much as we bash him, I thought I'd change it up by making a positive Cena thread. I don't know about you guys, but when he pulled down CM Punk's mic and told him that he was going to kick his ass, I got goosebumps. Needless to say, I'm definitely way more interested in the main event of Night of Champions than I was before going into tonight.
I want your guys' thoughts and opinions on this. Thanks for reading.
