Definitely personality. I mean look at Hulk Hogan for your proof. You have to be able to connect with the audience to really get over. Most exceptions like Jeff Hardy for instance are far and few between.

Every time I read a thread that says something like "Tamina and Alicia Fox are great wrestlers, not just eye candy," I stand by the notion a great trainer can make virtually anyone what some people will consider a decent worker. But charisma is something you can't teach and many people are uncomfortable at a mic, speaking publicly; so, if you have presence and are reasonably fit, you have far greater potential in the business than the naturally gifted athlete with an average personality. (At least in the US)

    It depends...

I love watching guys with amazing ring ability but it is easier to get behind some with a personality. Look at Roderick Strong; amazing wrestling ability but a mop cuts a better promo than he can. It is much hard to break through the glass ceiling into WWE or even TNA without some personality.

    Interesting thread this...

I think in order to be a star then personality is of course key, this is why people like Dean Malenko, Lance Storm and Perry Saturn were never that big draws. (Look at John Cena. Not great in-ring ability, but still the biggest star currently in the WWE. Same goes with Hulk Hogan in the 80's)
Having said that, I voted for in-ring ability. Purely because the main reason why I love pro-wrestling is to see skilled athletes that have the ability to tell an emotional story in the ring in terms of moves and counters.
Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Ultimo Dragon, Ricky Steamboat are all perfect examples of this.
But hey, whatever you voted for isn't a wrong answer if it entertains you personally...

I understand the argument for Personality, but I'll side with in-ring ability. Look at some of the guys who are not the greatest on the mic, yet so fantastic in the ring, that it truly doesn't matter how bad they are on the mic because their ability tells the story. EX: Chris Benoit, Brock Lesner, Jeff Hardy, Davey Boy Smith, etc

I also voted for in ring ability. Some of my favorite wrstlers could bore you to sleep when on the mic but when they got in the ring they could make your blood boil with excitement examples Jerry Lynn, Roderick Strong, Chris Benoit(before the tragedy), Bam Bam Bigelow, Shelton Benjamin & JoMo. All fantastic in the ring , not so good on the mic.

I prefer the GREAT personality over the GREAT technician, but as soon as it goes below that level and i dont see the potential to get there then the technician wins out. For instance, Santino is a good personality but Ziggler is a good technician. I dont think either of them will ever be GREAT at either but i would rather see Ziggler wear the WHC or WWEC strap way more than Santino...
