Could Ryback actually win the WWE Championship?

Probably, no, and yes. Here's why.

Ryback's streak isn't going to end this soon. He's gaining ground quickly, and despite the IWC's so-so like of the guy, he's got the package, he can wrestle, and he's getting decently over with pretty simple gestures that you wouldn't think would work - but they do. Hell, even I've gotten into it a bit.

They might be hedging bets a bit with Cena's injury - but listen back to his promo. He's going to be at Hell in a Cell, but he didn't guarantee who he would face - just that he would be there, to fight. My bet there is someone like a returning Mark Henry or Big Show. But with little lead time assuming he gets back healthy a week before, it's doubtful it would be someone randomly on the roster (Big Show already just came back). So that leaves Henry. Meh...

Finally - could Ryback win the WEDF (I mean WWE) title? Why not? Think of the ammo it gives CM Punk, who doesn't need the title to brood around for a few months with Heyman (and Lesnar eventually?). And don't forget - The Rock is due back by the Rumble to face whoever the champion is. That won't be Ryback, so...to keep his streak alive and because I very much doubt Cena/Rock II happens at Mania, Cena pins Punk with Ryback in a Triple Threat match at Survivor Series, winning the WWE Title and taking it onto the Rumble to lose it to Dwayne, who then faces Punk/Lesnar at Mania...

Ryback with the strap for a few weeks would really thrust him into the upper card and it's not like it hasn't been done before. The WWE needs fresh faces in the main event picture and though he might be one-dimensional, it's time for a little more one-dimensional. We don't need everyone all the time on the mic telling us how good they are or explaining everything. Sometimes, it's nice to have a guy up there, brute force, nothing but fight.

I hope Punk hands him his first loss. Losing to the champ is nothing to be ashamed at. He beat Miz last night clean so I thought he was in-line for an IC title shot.

I don't see this as a backup plan to Cena at all. Ryback's the #1 contender for the IC title and is facing Miz at HIAC.

Ryback's a long way off facing any of the top guys in WWE (Punk, Cena, Sheamus, Orton, Show, Daniel Bryan, Del Rio, Kane etc)

Just watched the ending and when I saw it the first thought I had was, If this continued in the coming weeks with different superstars, Showing Punk being scared to take someone on face to face instead of jumping them from behind it could lead to a SS match. Cena 5 Vs Punk 5.

I do not agree with this statement. Nothing I have seen from Skip/Ryback makes me think this guy can wrestle. Let me see him in a 20 min match and then I'll formulate my opinions fully, but I have yet to find a match of his with length to it.

I had this same idea. A set up of people standing up to Punk would band with Cena to take them on at SS... Not that Ryback is going to hunt for the WWE title. He is already looking to going for the IC title at HIAC, and I think that is as far as his title hopes go at the moment.
