After the bell rang, Ryback tried to get Heyman's portly frame up into his finisher, but couldn't quite do it, so he kind of slammed him instead. Punk then attacked Ryback, but Ryback came back and hit his finisher on Punk.

Maybe he didn't fit in his arms.

Simple solution: IF he's struggling to hit his power finisher, then all he needs to do is add another move to double up as a finisher.
Remember Batista? He's used the batista bomb, spear and spinebuster as finishers in the past. Undertaker has the chokeslam, Last Ride and Tombstone.
Chances are we'll see Ryback adding another finisher to his moveset. Just because he can't hit one particular move on a very small amount of people doesn't mean it's the end of his push.

Batista added the Spear after he had already established himself and the Spinebuster was used to set up the Batista Bomb. Undetaker always used the Tombstone as his primary finisher and the Chokeslam was used to set up the tombstone, also again Last Ride came after Taker's popularity and place was established. Ryback isn't nearly as established as these two are. Also Undertaker was able to Tombstone guys like Tensai and Heyman. I believe Batista was able to power bomb them, not sure, but I know he was able to Powerbomb Kane.

He shell shocked Tensai though. That day that he couldn't lift him it really looked like Tensai sandbagged because a few days earlier he did it no worries. And Heyman is an older guy who isn't a wrestler so maybe being a bit scared or something he unintentionally made it a bit harder to lift him. I think he is fine but he could do with another finisher. He may not be an established guy but it has to be noted that most top guys have more than one finisher. The only top guys I can think of that had one were Triple H and SCSA. But we will see how Ryback goes when he comes up against the Big Show.

I can see how trying to work with a portly non-wrestler wearing a suit wouldn't deliver the exact same results that one would otherwise get in a similar situation, so I'm not quite sure there's a genuine cause for concern just yet.


EDIT: I am sort of curious as to where "shellshock" came from, though. Is this a commentary on Ryback looking like a juiced-up snapping turtle or something?

I think its a play on the phrase shellshock which means to destroy or to obliterate.

But shell-shock actually means distress related to trauma. It's also known as combat fatigue.

No, but I think it's bit rash to compare Ryback to Undertaker and Batista. Also like I pointed out earlier that both the Undertaker and Batista that they could hit their finishers on all their opponents before switching to a secondary finisher.
