Breaking Point Championship

I would love to see a championship involving submission wrestling. The title being called the Breaking Point Championship and it can only be defended in submission, last man standing, and I quit matches. Anyone else think this title would be a cool idea. The first match could be Jack Swagger vs Jinder Mahal, sorry only two guys I could think of with submission finishers. Have it be a title for NXT or up and coming superstars.

Its an interesting idea. I mean, we'd get to see different stars doing new submissions. Think of Tyson Kidds finisher the Dungeon Lock i believe, or picture Kofi Kingston using a single leg crab, or Christian using a dragon sleeper. That would be cool

Yeah that's a great point. Just imagine how many new interesting submissions we could see in the WWE that we don't get to see in the WWE. Plus it would give the undercard wrestlers something to fight for like Jack Swagger, Justin Gabriel, Tyson Kidd, and so on.

Seeing guys come up with new submission holds will be good, like this idea, could be interesting to see.

Submission maneuvers if built up wrong during the match kill ratings. If done right it's a great moment of tension(I think Jericho's the most recent king of timing for a submission). Ratings don't matter for a PPV, people aren't going to tune out just because two guys are just laying there/hugging each other(plus you paid for the damn thing), but if there's something else on that's even remotely interesting during a RAW or SmackDown, you could have someone flip channels during a submission hold.

Plus, I don't think I Quit matches should be watered down like that. Obviously not every one of these would be an I Quit match but they use those very sparsely and it's a nice card to pull out of the deck once every year or so.

I like the idea. However I don't expect to see it happen due to the shortsightedness and closed minds of certain people in WWE and certain types of fans.

Mainly the younger fans. WWE doesn't want anything close to having kids try these holds (specifically those that could result in the loss of oxygen to the brain) when at home. If they had a title featured specifically for it, I can't see anything out of Leglocks and Armlocks. But the idea is an interesting one if featured on programming like NXT as mentioned. I don't see it on the main shows.

I remember when I first applied a figure-four to someone and realised, shit, that could really do some damage. But I wasn't mentally impaired and so therefore had something known as 'consequential thinking' - something that hasn't survived in the genepool into this current generation. There's still an occasional throwback, but that's where it's going.
