I think this is more of a last test to see if Kofi will get over a little more. Hes already over with the younger audience but I don't think they see him as a World champion just yet. They are potentially gonna give him more credible feuds and build him up as one of the best Intercontinental champions to date. If hes able to impress them with his Intercontinental reign once more like he did in his match with Dolph Ziggler on Raw a few weeks ago, then they'll probably see how well he does as a main eventer but if not, then he'll stay as a top mid-carder for the most part which isn't anything wrong with that. They've done the same thing with Shawn Michaels.
Besides, another Intercontinental reign added to Kofi's accolade doesn't hurt.
