WWE.com announces Kofi as the new IC champ

I'm in the minority even in the group of my personal wrestling fan friends. I think that kofi is a diamond in the ruff. Most of my friends think he's a mid carder main event talent jobber that has filled the need for a modern age Koko B Ware.

I think Kofi is a hiccup away from being a main event star with some exciting main event matches. The best truthful line of commentary on RAW last Monday was JR saying "the moment that he boomed dropped Orton in the crowd, at that moment Kofi had IT." He did.

I think this is more of a last test to see if Kofi will get over a little more. Hes already over with the younger audience but I don't think they see him as a World champion just yet. They are potentially gonna give him more credible feuds and build him up as one of the best Intercontinental champions to date. If hes able to impress them with his Intercontinental reign once more like he did in his match with Dolph Ziggler on Raw a few weeks ago, then they'll probably see how well he does as a main eventer but if not, then he'll stay as a top mid-carder for the most part which isn't anything wrong with that. They've done the same thing with Shawn Michaels.

Besides, another Intercontinental reign added to Kofi's accolade doesn't hurt.

I'll be honest, I don't remember any of Kofi's IC title runs. Know why? Because he never had promo time, and the only thing the reigns included was several matches Jack swagger, and another reign full of countless, endless matches against Dolph Ziggler. All good matches, but that's all they'd do. Between ppv's we'd see them facing each other on Smackdown, before it was eventually announced that they'd face each other at the ppv.

I hope this time round we get Kofi cutting some actual promos something to keep us hooked and interested in the title.

This was the problem with every title, but the World Heavyweight Championship and WWE Championship for a while now. Until Ziggler held the US Champion and Cody the Intercontinental Champion none of those champions got any promo time. Now, thankfully, every champion gets a good amount of promo time. This is something WWE needs to continue.
