The new Soundgarden album is like a time-machine ride back to the rock of the mid 90s. It's pretty awesome for fans of that kind of stuff.

Then I'm pretty confident that you'll still find a lot to like in King Animal as it does its damnedest to encapsulate their sound in all of its various stages. Plus, it just plain rocks. I honestly can't recall another reunion album that does as good of a job retaining the magic that made the respective band so special in the first place. And I think much of that success can be attributed to the album coming from a place of genuine passion and respect as opposed to the need for a new Lambo and some beachfront property.

You should give it a shot, man. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Based on your recommendation, I will give it a shot. I didn't mind that track from The Avengers, although not outstanding it was an enjoyable song. I did a bit of research lately looking at why they broke up and stuff, pretty much pinpointing the fact that Cornell "took over" the band - I don't think it was a "hostile takeover" lol, but Thayill's songs seemed to get pushed aside the most. The thing I always liked about Soundgarden is that all 4 members contributed to the songwriting and that made for a diverse set of songs on each album.

Kim Thayil is one of my absolute favorite 90s guitarists, and I actually think he might be on the most underrated rock musicians from the entire decade. One of an elite class of genuine auteurs on the axe.
