Hopefully the final episode improves a little :/
Edit: The website I watched it on combined the last 2 episodes so my assessment for episode 11 applies to 12 as well. Just want to point out again how bad the last episode was, The throwing someone in the pit analogy, and each character throwing a ladder at the end to show progress or some kind of bullshit, dear lord that was horrible. Then the completely outrages and totally believable twist of revealing how Barney planned this from the start and revealing it in steps until the final one, Sitcoms need to stay simple and not become a rom com fucking movie.
But I am still happy they renewed it for another season because I have to find out how Ted met his kid's mother, I really do.
Actually, I disagree Akbar. While the idea behind the first part may not have been your or others cup of tea, I thought it was an interesting idea. As for the second episode, I rather enjoyed seeing the last final massive play. I think it speaks ot Barney's character and growth over time. I mean, they could have gone the easy route of just having Barney propose, but it wouldn't be HIMYM without twists.
Anyways, I watched some of the older episodes the other day, and I can see where some people are saying the product has gone down hill. I'm sure some could make the argument for Friends, Seinfeld, Scrubs, or any other show that lasted more than 5 season. In my eyes though, you are either a fan, or you are not.
