I’ve got to say I’m loving most of these posts by peeps here! Watched all the Wire when it came on BBC here last year or before or something, was amazing, best police drama I’ve ever seen!! Also watched, from some of the same people as the Wire, Generation Kill. Was pretty good also I enjoyed the sort of realness that’s to be expected with those guys. Also wondering if any of you have seen Treme? It’s also from the creators of the Wire and has just started on SkyAtlantic here and I watched the first episode. I don’t know what to make of it yet? I give it a go.
Watching Boardwalk Empire also, think it’s great! I love Stephen Graham as Al Capone, Liverpool actor, plays a lot of sinister characters really well and I think a great actor. Starred as quite shocking character in This is England, and returned in TIE '86.
Also saw Walking Dead, loved it! Can’t wait for a new season! Got the Band of Brothers series on DVD and have watched it fully a couple of times now, was brilliant! Never finished the recent follow up The Pacific, need to finish that series. Didn’t like it as much as Band of Brothers to begin with so will see how that goes when I get a chance to watch it all. Also loved Eastbound and Down, watched both series' online after they aired in the States. Funny as fuck! Curb your Enthusiasm is one of my favourite shows ever. Again watched all the newer seasons online, and am now watching from the start on SkyAtlantic which is airing them here. Larry is just an amazing character and you find yourself agreeing with him and wanting him to "win", you know, much like David Brent sometimes in the Office or Basil Fawlty in Fawlty Towers, and think the people they deal with u want to punch!
Also love South Park. Family Guy and American Dad are okay, I watch them. The Office US I keep up with. I like it, I laugh at it, and I think Dwight is great! People say it’s nothing compared to The Office UK, which it isn’t, but you have to kinda think of it as a different show now, and get used to it. I watched the first seasons of Parks and Recreation online as it’s similar to The Office, but I’ve lost a little interest in it. Never get enough laughs outta it, plus some of the characters I just find really stupid or annoying, although I love Aziz Ansari and think he’s pretty good in it.
I also love mythbusters. I love finding out things and experiments and science, and that is all of that, and there’s some funny moments. I’ve always said I want to be a Mythbuster!!!
If there are British shows I could put forward I would say we do a lot of good documentaries, which I love, especially the BBC. Anything Attenborough! Plus the Horizon shows are great for the geek in you. A lot of sciency content about discoveries and experiments in the scientific world - psychology, physics, astronomy, biology, medicine, etc. It’s sort of like programmes of Scientific Journal papers you know, but nothing too in depth that you shouldn’t be able to get into, and learn something. Alan Partridge was great and he’s doing an online miniseries right now which is very funny - Google it, its sponsored by Fosters. Definitely recommend Peep Show! Longest running sitcom on Channel 4 that’s very funny and unique in that filming is shot from the point of view of the characters own eyes, but that doesn’t really matter as it would still be funny. Just got the first 6 series on box set for Christmas so looking forward to watching them all again. Also just too add I love Karl Pilkington.
Wow I’ve wrote a lot!!! Lol. There’s probs more I could say when I think about it. Later
