ERMMmm the BAFTAS isnt exclusive to British films

I'm still not seeing why you're positing the two having different sets of award recipients as some way proving a cultural divide existing between American and British critics. I mean, the Golden Globes is American-based, and it's award recipients often vary from the American-based Oscars and Emmys, too.

Well its just that there is normally a massive difference between who wins these rewards i mean the one year where i dount believe Milk was nominated at all in the Baftas and Sean Penn went on to win the oscar and Micky Rourke won the Bafta. Well i do get you point in that though but i thought Emmys was TV awards? And Golden Globes were voted for by the people? Im sorry if this is wrong but we dont really hear about those two over here. Its mainly the Baftas and the Oscars.

But how many British films that are a success over here are equally successful in the states.

And alot films thought only DVD release worthy in the UK are given Cinema release in the states? Not trying to use that as a point but ive always been curious as to why that is.

Hardley ever, but that's because they aren't marketed the same and/or given wide releases. There have been exceptions (Trainspotting, Full Monty, Shaun of the Dead, some Mike Leigh movies, and whatever Danny Boyle does), but British movies are traditionally handled as niche market releases. The critics always still love the stuff, though.

The American movie market is really a hard nut to crack, as unless you have hundreds of millions sunk into CGI explosions and things that are shiny, general audiences aren't going to give the films the time of day (because most of them are, well, functionally retarded).

See we get alot of British films that are released alot are succesful alot arent. Are you guys getting The Inbetweeners for example thats going o be huge here but i dont think you guys are going to get it. And Submarine which is a genuis UK film

Well a few Win Win, every WWE film, id have to go through a list there are hundreds. The Eagle.....

We get the basic blockbusters but the films that have critics talking we dont normally get until you have them on DVD. Mainly Independent films but alot of others as well

I haven't heard anything yet regarding an American theatrical run for the Inbetweeners movie, but I do know that we're getting an American remake of the tv show. And seeing as that it's being done for MTV, it's all but guaranteed to be absolutely rubbish.

What's that show about, anyways? I might have to look into adding the UK show to my list of things to check out (along with Misfits and Luther).

Im not a huge fan its about 4 sixth form kids which are about 16-17 yrs old dont know what that is in American and they are all different Theres the Thick one, The Offensive one , The Posh one and the normal one, its essientialy all their antics as the try to get laid and that some of it is hilarious but you see one season youve seen all of it. It might be too offensive for you guys though as you banned Skins very early on.

Luther well i havent seen yet as season 1 wasnt advertised much on TV so i missed it and i wanna watch it from the begining. But lets be honest it has Idris Elba and hes normally excellent in what ever hes in.

Misfits is genuis but again i dont think it will translate well. I love that show though its the one UK tv show i cant wait for the next series. Although the main character has left the show.
