When did it become shameful to be a 'midcarder'

This is basically it. Midcarders started to get bad names when today's era of fans start to go to shows just to see one guy wrestle.

I dont know but two guys that comes up in my mind that arent "shameless" about being a midcarder is Rhodes and Ziggler, especially Ziggler. We have Sandow, Kane but hes an up and down, Barrett. I dont know. Its a little bit sad that a couple of guys arent "coming" up with a new "character" so we can pay attention to them. Because they have the in ring talent and a couple of guys got mic skills, but they are how Jericho would describe them: two guys wrestling with trunks.

IDK when that happened but you definitely have a point. The thing is that "mid carders" are at the heart of what keeps the company going. But before it's all said and done they are more expendable from a business point of veiw which is why I think fans have such passion wanting to see their guy in the spotlight before he is released or retires. Me personally Im cool with mid-carders it just stinks when I see them work sooooo hard for sooooo long and never get anything higher than a mid card title. Think if Eddie would have have never won the WWE title or if JBL would've never won it. (Now more current)... Can u imagine if Dolph or Cody never won the big prize after let's say... 12 years in the biz? That would SUCK! Now on the flipside... I would like to see the low low low low card wrestlers being used for more than just losing. It would be nice to see Guys like Dibiase, Gabriel, Riley, Hunico, Hawkins, & Baretta get big wins on live tv every once and a while. It would make for more interesting unpredictable TV.

A world title isn't about how long you have been with the company, it's about how popular you are with the fans (or how much they hate you).

One of the problems with midcarders today, and a lot of people below that, is that fans don't really respond to them. The only guys who tend to get cheers or boos at every show are the likes of Punk, Cena, Bryan, Orton etc. Whereas several years back even the mid card guys and divas got big responses.

Yeah, I think that's a problem as well. I hear live reports from people who go to WWE events and they all say that guys like Antonio Cesaro come out to crickets. It sucks too since Cesaro is one hell of a talent.

Its not shameful to me but disrespectful to the mentioned wrestlers because so many barriers have been broken already, if doesnt matter your age, your hieght, your character - you CAN b world champion in todays wrestling world . So to b a "midcarder" has to suck

I once said something similar in an earlier thread. If everyone that was good got pushed to the main event the mid card would suck. I strongly agree with you on this one. There is always such a rush for people to get pushed these days. Nothing wrong with keeping them in the mid card for a few years before giving them that push.

The problem is WWE focus their product too mcuh in the main eventers and they don't give enough time to the other stars, I remember the Rey/Y2J feud for the IC title, they fought three consecutive PPV's and there was a story and good promos to support it, look now for example the Cesaro/Truth, it was thrown out the nowhere
