Still, it seems like they're over reaching. I'm all for optimism but it's a little bit like holding a school play in a coliseum.

While I agree that the idea of hosting a venue that seats 70k fans is a big reach for TNA, I don't think that it's a "bad move" that it is being made out to be. It all depends on how the seating/arena is set up as to how well the show will come off. With the positive feedback that came from the last PPV in Texas, why would they not want to have another one in the State? San Antonio has a rich wrestling background and is a great location. We all know that TNA isn't looking at this as a chance to sell 70k tickets to the event, rather hosting the event in a great city.

A few facts for the people that need to be clued in about San Antonio and its arenas.

AT&T owns both the AT&T center and the Freeman Coliseum.

WWE has a contract with most major arenas in major cities where another promotion cannot run in those arenas within six months before, or after they hold an event their.. and that includes any subsidary properties.

The Alamodome is the next best option in San Antonio, and is actually quite affordable.

Now if you guys think the Illusions theater is a separate place in the dome, its not. Its just a different layout of how they arrange the arena. They basically cut the arena in half. Tarp it out and make a stage in the middle. This is actually a common set up for several events at the arena. Concerts, even Arena football do it this way.

Now before you guys start making conclusions, a few months ago Lucha Libre USA came to San Antonio and ran at the Alamodome. They did the Illusions theater set up. Here are some photos from that actual event.

It looked awesome and very professional. Obviously the floor seats were arranged differently to accomadate a ring.

the seats are regular folding chairs that can be moved quite easily. its not a real theater. its just what the layout is called.

The curtains are just basically covering the other half of the arena..

Now lucha libre usa easily packed every seat available in the Illusion theater set up... and the biggest names on their card were latin lover, Lizmark Jr, Chavo Guerrero JR and Hurricane Helms... TNA has tons more star power than that.

Sure they have trouble filling out house shows.. but news flash.. this isnt a house show.. its a PPV and they will have all their big names at this event...

For people to think a stacked card with the top names (Hardy, Aries, ANGLE, AJ, STORM, ROODE, STING, HOGAN) to not out draw Lucha Libre USA, or even fill up the layout of the arena, is kinda ridiculous.

NOT TO MENTION

San Antonio is a city that is VERY VERY VERY proud of its Lucha heritage, and is also one of the biggest Wrestling towns in the state. It will easily attract wrestling fans.

The news, news papers, media and almost every single type of publicity worked with Lucha Libre USA in promoting the show. Their name and fliers were everywhere in town, and commercials too.

Im sure TNA would have no trouble with the media wanting to help advertise in town.

Ok, that's pretty cool. So it's a pretty good decision then, because if they get a lot of people coming at the day of the event, they can easily expand the seating and the venue will look like a regular wrestling venue.
But how do you know all this?

I know I'm entering real fantasy land here but can you imagine how awesome Lockdown could be if they really did sell out 70,000 seats?! I'd love TNA to achieve that one day.

Back in reality I am a little concerned, if they have over estimated the door the atmosphere at Lockdown could really suffer.

I really don't think anyone wants anything less than that type of success for TNA. Despite what some might think. What would be especially awesome is that it would give all wrestlers some bargaining power if there was another AS successful company and that would serve to increase the level of competition in the ring as guys tried to outdo one another to be noticed and drive up their stock.

Could you imagine; The idea of some of these performers "having" to do their best work in order to not just get paid major $$ on the name value, but also the quality of work they provide for their company? People would have to perform at a high enough level to justify their existance on my TV rather than just being there because they are a big enough name to be there, even though they only try once out of every 15 matches or so? *Looks directly to RVD*

Yeah they have a huge curtain that hangs from the roof that covers up everything behind the added seats. I was at Slammiversary and if they can get that atmosphere again it will be the loudest and craziest TNA PPV yet. there was something like 5k at Slammiversary. I could easily see San Antonio getting more as there are more hispanics there, than in Dallas.

Will be pretty simple to make it looked packed even if they dont sellmore than 7k or so. Stage will take up one end of those seats anyways. Then you sell opposite hard camera lowers and second level first. Then opposite stage then hard camera side. You then open the second deck except for the few that were sold during opposite hard camera selling. Then if you sell out you open up a half section at a time of the third deck.
