I dont get this, why are there soo many wwe shows?

This is what I would do....keep Raw at 3 hours....NXT is not on here in the states so I would like to see NXT with the young guys....I like Main Event since it doesn't follow the main story lines too much so it doesn't hurt the over all product too much....Smackdown should be taken away.....I don't watch Sat. Morning Slam and since that is aimed at little kids, I have no issue with it staying....Superstars is fine since it gives lower tier guys air time.....Eliminating Smackdown would help RAW since it ends having to write storylines for another 2 hour program. Besides, the rosters are pretty much mixed now anyway so what's the point? Plus, cut back to 6 PPVs a year (Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Survivor Series and 2 others). And maybe on the off months, do like a 'Clash of the Champions' or 'Saturday Night's Main Event' type of event on TV.

have u been watching theofftheropesshow too? Those guys are who gave me the idea to create this topic, because it really does seem messed up to me, to fill us all in with soo many programs where at the end of it its all gonna go down the drain.
Read my words people, if vince does plan to launch the network around mania 30 time so 2014 this right here will be the end of it all for the wwe because it will sap away money more than gathering it. They will spend millions of dollars in it and they will get nowhere near the desired amount they wish for to compensate all that lost at creating the network. The wwe isnt as big enough to get a network for themselvs. I mean besides Raw smackdown main event saturday morning slam and superstars what do they really have?
Are they gonna air the youtube shows no one cares about to the network too? Are they going to show "from the vault" former matches that date all the way from my late late grandfather from the 1960's and 1970's to fill in the void of when there's nothing else to watch?

Amen to that :\ but i keep thinking that vince is still only hungry for more cash, sure businesses always need to grow and money does that but ultimately in times of harsh economy that we are living in now dont u all think it's wrong for the wwe not only charge more for their ppv's but also fill us in with more shows and so on?
First they have those shows to consume all of our money in, i absolutely believe that some arenas in which shows like superstars main event and SMS are tapped arent even half filled with people. that's how bad i feel about the wwe at this time..
If anything they should stop persuing gathering more money and lowering the ppv ticket cost, i think its absolutely pathetic to be hungry at this time nowadays. They should learn how to save money and slowly progressively aim to gather more ppl by lowering costs, give us less but in better quality.

Strictly to your bolded part - I would not mind the E Universe charging for their product if the product was worth the price to me as a consumer. As most people on this site who know anything about me as a fan, the WWE product isn't geared towards what appeals to me as a fan. However, the E Universe does appeal to a massive amount of people so there are those out there who would be willing to pay for the network in order to keep viewing (especially if they jumped both Raw AND Smackdown to the network and took them off USA and SyFy). I for one am just going to be one of those who they lose in the process of starting up the network; until they change their product to focus on quality matches rather than storylines that is. This is just from someone who is a fan of wrestlers from their athletic gifts, rather than their entertaining abilities to speak what is scripted to them. I'd much rather save that $10-30 a month I'd spend on the network and go to a movie if I wanted to see someone act.

WWE became the huge sucess is today thanks to storylines, twists plots and acts, it is what helped it grow from just a wrestling organization back in the day, so i'll ask u this.
Why are you here?
If you're in for the wrestling why dont u watch ROH new japan, mexican wrestling, and so on? the wwe wont ever be a full fledged wrestling organization, they will mix wrestling with entertainment because that E appeals to the masses more than wrestlig in general.
I understand your point and what you seek it's your desire to be entertained to just watch pure skilled athlets, but again..why bother continuing to watch the wwe? they will only focus more on entertainment rather than good matches.
and honestly to me..i find that to be better for my liking.
sure i love wrestling but storylines are what makes one interested in the most for me..though...even that the wwe is seriously lacking at producing in recent years...besides cm punk and cena last year at mitb..there hasnt been a really good storyline in between...

I really can't imagine how they can fill the network out with programming. Yeah, the amount of content that WWE has in old footage is insane, but who watches that much wrestling? It's so incredibly narrow in terms of focus. That's like having an American football network. I'm sure there's a lot of footage for that but what are you going to do besides airing old games? People talking about football? Football interviews? Behind the scenes of football? It's going to get very dull very quickly, unless WWE can secure the rights to things like Redneck Island, Bullrun and shows like that hosted by wrestlers... or of course they film shows like that.

You do realize that they film all of these shows on Monday or Tuesday before raw and smack down right?

well all except Nxt. But Nxt is just the old fcw. Which is where they train and grow their stars. Now they just show it online and not just on Florida tv.

the others are hour long shows that contain 2-3 matches. If I'm going to spend money on arenas and staff to set up those arenas I might as well use that money to my fullest. In other words it doesn't cost them anymore money other than paying production crews a tad more for the extra hour of filming. And without these shows a ton of the roster would be without a job. So all these extra shows really don't add to days work to anyone other than the guys that would be sitting in the back during raw that would not have anything else to do anyways.

Unless it's old episodes, most likely. RAW does 3+ million viewers weekly where it is, more than they'll likely do on the Network.

Actually, WWE became a HUGE success thanks to the over the top characters and proper marketing of said characters along with the acquiring of the top tier talent from all territories around America. Remember, the “WWE” might have gotten their name in the past decade, but the lineage is traced back MUCH farther than the limited timeframe in which you are referencing. The storylines for the likes of Sammartino, Backlund, Hogan, and Hart weren’t quality storylines in general. They, much like all storylines in wrestling, were hit or miss. It just so happens that after the success of Austin vs. McMahon and the hostile takeover of the NWO, the emphasis shifted to storyline based with less emphasis on the action in the ring. Now with said “larger than life” characters such as Undertaker, HBK, Austin, Rock, HHH, (etc) having moved on past the “wrestling” aspect of it, they are left with an audience who doesn’t have the depth of big names to lean upon during durations of injury or top stars walking away. Storylines might be the mass appeal to the likes of you, but that is your taste; you’d rather have the “entertainment” (better known to the general public as “Male Soap Opera”) aspect where as I am geared towards the “sports” (better known as athleticism) aspects of wrestling...

Now let me ask you a question – How do you know I don’t follow those promotions? If you had been around and had conversations with me, you would understand that I follow ALL wrestling that I can. From Dragon Gate/Evolve to CZW to CMLL to local indies such as Anarchy Championship and River City wrestling... I enjoy it because I take the Japanese approach (from what I understand) to viewing the product in that this is a work of art or a massively staged exhibition of talent in front of me. What you are describing is that you would rather look at “wrestling” as just another television but they just lump in matches on the in-between so they are their own genre of television show; Like a comedy or variety hour so to speak. Trust me, I understand the dynamic of how the E operates (another fact you could learn from a conversation of two rather than assuming others don’t “get it” the way you TRULY “get it”) which is why I choose not to follow it as closely as other products. I am the demographic of WWE fan that would rather watch the matches on Youtube as to save space on my DVR for better quality programming; after all, if I FFwd through 2 hours of programming, why would I want to DVR it in the first place. As to the “focusing on entertainment only” comment you made, I pose this question: Why are YOU here? If you opinion or view of the E Universe is so dreary as to think they won’t bring in the things that appeal to you, why watch? Obviously from the intent of your OP, the E is failing to give you that “quality entertainment” you are seeking, rather than good matches, but you complain that they are over saturating your television with what you are seeking; entertainment.

And I can see your point. From my previous comments, you can see that all fans have their separate likes and dislikes. I for one did not like seeing VKM blow up, I wasn’t a fan of a birth to a live hand, and I am not interested in seeing a supposed porn star have his penis chopped off... I am a fan of seeing an epic battle of two story telling wrestlers that gets my blood pumping and endorphins introduced at massive speed only to yell “Oh my God” at my TV followed by the feeling of “did that just happen” or “did he really just pull that off” going through my veins. You see, I am here for the moments when I am on the edge of my seat, sitting in disbelief at what is unfolding in front of me and the clinching of my fists as a superstar was inches away from being declared the winner... I am not here to sit and listen to someone accuse another person of infidelity, steal another person’s car, or fight for the honor of another person. I already know it’s scripted; I’d much rather hear of someone doing these things in real life, not because the script called for it. Does that answer your question?

Depends on whether USA would allow that, but if you look at the Hulu deal, they probably could air it after a few days on their network.
