WWE to get edgier?

PWInsider.com is reporting there is a big push internally in WWE to make the product edgier.

While this is not Vince McMahon's idea, he's said to be on-board with listening for ideas as he recognizes numbers are down across the board. The hope is in light of the low ratings, to give the audience something different compared to what they've been seeing over the last couple years. According to the report, we can also expect to see more wrestling heavy programming.

I'm not saying WWE has to go back to the Attitude Era but something needs to be done in order to draw back some of the fans who watched years ago that no longer watch the current product or find the current product rather dull. There has to be a way to satisfy both the younger audience as well as the older audience.

Of course...I do like the fact they are at least talking about it. And adding more actual wrestling time is a good idea. I also heard that the Divas division is gonna be revamped to a certain extent.

I'm definitely in favour of more wrestling.
But they've been talking about revamping that division for a year now.

It would probably help a lot, if they took wrestling and championships more serious. Cut back on the lame comedy.

They are and will get a little more AE. Miz referring to Sandow and Rhodes as "The Pink and the Stink" should be enough evidence. Cena is getting older, his fan base is getting older and when kids become teens they want something edgier. Proof of that, Hulk to Hollywood.

And most importantly Linda lost the election and there's some money to make up and cutting talent will not cover all losses.

I've been telling people to stand by for changes in the next couple of years. PG is almost over and new faces will be headlining soon as a new generation will be coming. A lot of potential could-be main eventers will be given a shot through the next couple years. Sink or swim, but it will be fun to watch who draws and who can not.

They can be PG, just push the envelope a bit more. Aim it at kids, that's fine, but there's plenty of PG programs that still cater to kids and adults love it.

Just out of interest what rating is Impact at the moment (age rating not viewing figures)?
I ask because they have some mild swearing and in direct sexual references, "I'll give you all the stuffing you can handle" and blood. That's about as edgy as I'd want WWE to get. The attitude era went too far into smut and excessive violence for my taste so I wouldn't want to see them go that far again. I think WWE do need to focus more on wrestling content, so that's a good thing, I hope that means commentary will spend more time calling the action and less time telling stories now.

I highly doubt that this means that we will get tv14 back but other then that, this is awesome news.
