Well, although I felt that was a good show, maybe even great, it wasn't quite up to GBH standards. Very consistant yes, but I was perhaps hoping for a little more
Michael Elgin vs. Roderick Strong ***1/2
A very good opener, but I still thought this match was lacking something and could have really been awesome. Hope this isn't the end of their fued, as I really want to see at least one ****+ match between them because they're more than capable.
Rhino vs. Jay Leathal **1/4
Meh, decent, more about the angle. Corino on commentary was great, and the post match angle was pretty good too. Great GORE!
Prince Nana vs. RD Evans **1/4
Well although this was a decent match, I feel this went the wrong way. I was expecting an awesome comedy match, and while it was fun, it wasn't funny. Shame really. Ciampa looks ready to come back though, which is awesome.
Wrestling's Greatest Tag Team vs. Rhett Titus & BJ Whitmer ***1/2
I was really suprised by how good this was. A really fun brawl, with some good spots. Sick bump at the end, glad BJ was okay.
Jerry Lynn vs. Mike Bennett ***
A good solid match, as you'd expect. Nice sendoff afterwards for Lynn. I didn't realise he was 49, so that makes it a very good performance considering. True legend.
The Lethal/Nigel thing was good, but Lethal did come off a bit of a bitch. I'm intrigued to see where this goes though.
Mondo got no pop. Awkward. I still feel he needs to be heel.
American Wolves vs. Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish ***3/4
Very good match, as expected. Too many strikes and especially kicks. Might have got cut short a bit at the end with Fish looking to be injured. Hopefully a rematch?
Adam Cole vs. Matt Hardy ***
I found this match pretty decent. Nothing great, but decent. I was content, and also didn't mind the finish. Rematch down the line probably, which I'm okay with.
C&C Wrestle Factory vs. The Briscoes vs. S.C.U.M. (c) **1/4
Extremely disappointing. Way too short. If they were worried about the overall length of the show then they should have cut Evans vs. Nana, not this. Poor end to SCUMs title reign, which is a shame for both Corino & Jacobs. I thought C&C would win it, and am a little disappointed with yet another Briscoes reign. Don't get me wrong, it'll probably be good, but C&C needed the belts a lot more. Open challenge sounds interesting though.
Kevin Steen (c) vs. El Generico ****1/2
Wow! Epic match, so many great spots. I'm a little sad that Generico didn't get the title, as I feel that could signal his last ROH match, but the match was awesome. Suprised to see no Lethal. I'm hoping for a Lethal vs. Generico fued because Lethal is angry at Generico for not winning. It's give Lethal something to do while Steen has the title, and keep Generico around.
Overall it was a very good show, but a couple of things could have made it better. More time for the tag title match, a better crowd, Nana and Evans going all out comedy, and having Nigel on commentary. I'd say probably the 2nd best PPV of the year for ROH, after GBH.
Some other things:
- The crowd was really poor. They didn't even give Generico that much of a pop! Or Hardy that much heat!
- I really don't like Caleb. He's really monotonous, has lots of annoying nicknames (the Evil Scientist for Matt Hardy for example) and calls loads of moves wrong (Called a Shining Wizard a leg lariat, called O'Reilly's Guillotine a Dragon Sleeper, and called Corino's Eternal Dream a Texas Lariat). I'm really gald he's not the permanent colour commentator
- Was it just me, or whenever somebody was making a promo, then stopped speaking at the end of the line or something, did the sound completely cut off? Like, you could hear the crowd when he was speaking then as soon as he stopped silence. It's just a little thing, but annoyed me a little
