ok, I can't be the only one who thinks the WWE is obsessed with name changes.
whose idea is it to change, seemingly, everyones name?
My major issues are with second and third generation "superstars". These guys have built-in name recognition. People are genuinely excited or at least interested by seeing the kid of a wrestler they loved. How is "Husky Harris" a better choice than using the Hennig name? Hell, WWE went out of their way to change Dwayne Johnson to "Rocky Maiavia" (sic?) just to cash in on the name recognition and they had no issue with Ted Dibiase, Cody Rhodes, or Randy Orton. It seems like they do it just for the hell of it. Half of Nexus is oncognito... unless you happen to be married to a famous singer (I prefer to think of him as that jacked gay dude from "I love New York").
Most changes are inexpicible. I could list a dozen guys off the topb of my head, including Tyler Black, Kaval, Vance Archer. et al. Really, I could go on and on but we know the names.
WWE needs to forget the name changing and work on developing these guys and using the name recognition for the 2nd and 3rd gen guys. Not to mention the work alot of guys put in on the indy circuit, in FCW, ROH, or even TNA under their own names instead of picking names out of a hat and sending guys out to the ring with names like "Hutch Curtain" and "Wyatt Brackens". They are treating the rookies like the CAW feature in SvR.
Some changes make sense and it is by no means a new phenomenon but sttill, why change EVERYONES name???
Then again ask Terry Bollea.
