Diva-Lution?

Not even 24 hours ago, my friend, Ross, and I had a long discussion about the WWE (as all fans do, obviously) and how storylines could be better. What was a discussion about Cena and Triple H heel turns, turned into how the Divas Division could be become an awesome focal point in WWE.

He said, and I quote, "Mate...has there ever been a Divas Faction? You know...like Evolution, but with Divas? Like Diva-Lution or something" (then we laughed). But as he continued, the topic of Divas (for the first time in years) actually became interesting.

Now, as you see, I have written in the first paragraph "What was a discussion about Cena and Triple H heel turns..." let me touch upon this for a second in regards to my point in this thread post. He wants John Cena to beat The Rock at Wrestlemania, and turn heel following the match (which WON'T happen Ross!). Then, eventually, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon would overthrow Vince McMahon as owners of the WWE, turn heel also, and join John Cena in a new super-faction.

As we talked and talked about his grand idea, we wondered who could join the group. I suggested Eve at one point of the conversation, and have her be Stephanie's assistant and have them be the two top heel divas, collectively, in WWE. When Ross heard this, he replied "That's an idea! And what if, also, CM Punk brought in his real-life girlfriend Lita and THEY joined the faction as heels, maybe along with Ziggler and AJ Lee?"

I knew he was on to something when he was more excited about having Stephanie McMahon, Eve, Lita and AJ in one faction, than Cena, Ziggler, HHH and Punk on the same team. That's when Ross devised the idea of "Diva-Lution". Diva-Lution would be the top divas in WWE in one group, as woman on top (possible faction tag line?)

My point: is it about time we see an all-Divas Faction? I, for one, am a HUGE fan of the idea...what do you guys think? (apologies for the blog length post!)

I also thought about an all Divas faction, however it was a few years ago when they had more dominant Divas and when RAW and Smackdown were separate.

I had envisioned Victoria and Natalya joining forces with Beth Phoenix, Jillian and Katie Lea. They would dominate RAW, Smackdown and ECW and then it would have led to a 5 on 5 match at Survivor Series where Melina, Mickie, Michelle McCool, Candice and Maria joined up to take down the faction.

I'd like to see the NXT Divas all form a faction and invade the main roster Divas (very original, I know! ). The members would be Paige (leader), Emma, Sasha Banks, Anya (the muscle of the group/bodyguard) and Dani (more of a manger for the girls, would rarely wrestle)

Definitely an interesting idea, man. A few thoughts after reading:

1. Now that you mention it, I am VERY excited for the inevitable storyline that will revolve around HHH and Steph gaining full power of the WWE. While we know it's slowly happening backstage, it will be cool when the character of Mr. McMahon actually 'loses' his company to HHH. I could see HHH fighting for the company at Wrestlemania 30, maybe against a person of Vince's choosing - Cena, Ryback, etc.

2. A Diva stable would probably do wonders for the division. I don't know if I see it involving such powerhouses as Steph McMahon, Lita, Eve, and AJ - the rest of the Divas would fall into complete and utter laughable obscurity with those 4 running the show. Would Kaitlin and Alicia Fox round up the troops and be a believable threat? Meh. I generally think stables are an effective way to make lesser parts a more impressive whole. That said, I'd rather see a Diva stable of a variety of styles, joining for a unified purpose. Perhaps they are babyfaces who attack male wrestlers with big egos - Ziggler, Sandow, Miz, etc. Who knows? Could be fun though.

If they put the top ones in a faction, it should be the divas from NXT that come up to take them down, thus gaining career momentum for the future.

Aren't there a decent handful of WWE Divas who are daughters or/nieces of established wrestlers? I'm thinking they could successfully do some sort of Diva Legacy. Ashley Flair, Tamina Snuka, Natalya (Hart Foundation), etc. Are there others I'm missing? Please don't say Brooke Hogan.

Nice, I think those are all solid names that would benefit largely from debuting together. They're all at appropriate levels where no single diva would appear too dominant - let the best and brightest stand out. If anything, Natalya would be the leader and she's probably most deserving on the diva roster to be in a better position.

You would have to have Stephanie as the voice of that group.

Had Ross's idea of Stephanie, Lita, AJ and Eve become a divas faction come to light, I could see Natalya lead the WWE Diva charge against them, with Alicia Fox stepping up her game, and Layla being pushed as the (sexy) face of the WWE Divas Division. With NXT Diva Paige being a huge fan favourite already with the fans, she could be brought up to join the fight on either side and it would boost her career. Plus, it would generally give all the Divas something meaningful to do and add prestige to the WWE Divas Championship when added to the mix.

I like the idea but I think it will be a good year or two before we get something even remotely close to this. First off, the divas would have to work their asses off to stop people from going to the bathroom during their matches and on top of that, the big guys at the top would have to allow the idea and we all know that Vince has some issue with the women looking better than the men, and finally, if anyone's going to even care about the stable, then the divas need to be back at full swing like how they were when Jazz, Lita, and Trish were around. Making the stable now, even with all the big names, won't matter if they're not given the time and energy to shine. It's going to take a lot of doing and it looks like the divas are at least trying to make the most out of their five minutes, but it's going to be a long wait.
