The "Strap"

OK, what it is the obsession with the IWC and wrestlers winning titles? Anymany times have we read Bryan should win the big one.......Rock shouldnt win the strap, Ziggles for champ..... and so on and so on!!! WHAT DIFFERANCE DOES IT MAKE????????!!!!! Surely all we want is for a entertaining storyline, something to have us on the dge of our seats....and only on a few occasions does the strap increase the creditability of a storyline.... Wrestlers success arent based on the titles won but how over they are as talents. Thoughts?

I think a lot of people pt themselves in the shoes of those backstage, and think about who has earned the right to be top of the heap.

The only problem I have with say, giving the title to the rock is that it sends a message to the rest of the roster that you don't have to work hard all year round putting on a great show for the fans; as long as you can entertain for 2 or 3 months out of the year. That isn't really something that benefits the overall product on a day to day basis. I don't really care about who has a title if we are getting a good storyline out of people.

It's like the inner mark inside all of us that never really grew up.

Deep down, we know the titles are props. We know champions and contenders are simply names to further scripted storylines. We know the only real difference between a world title and a secondary title is in the name only. We know it's just a show.

But we like to believe they hold true significance. It's like that part of us that continues to suspend disbelief.

Because it's apart of the fun is raging when someone you hate (Like HHH for me) wins a title then someone you love beats them for it.

Why do you cheer for your favorite sports team to win it's respective title? Huh? Because it's the same hear. It shows that they have what it takes to boast that they are the best until someone else knocks them off of their proverbial pedestal.

Titles = promotions.

Whether for the long run storyline or for just one grandiose, flash in the pan spectacle, championships often put that wrestler in a certain setting that fans of said wrestler want them to be in. It's less about the championships and more about the benefits.

I understand all your comments BUT look back at some of the greatest rivalries of all times, and greatest moments of all times, Majority of them wasnt based around major titles or even titles at all.

And with regards to your favourite sports teams winning a championship just isnt relivant at all as that isnt a work

So because it "isn't a work" means it is thrown out of the window? The emotional attachment to the when they win? Lose? When their music hits? The anger you let boil out when the team you despise beats them? The notoriety they receive when winning a title times? Yeah, it should be thrown right out of the window with anything that isn't a work.

You familiar with the saying "it's not the view, Its the journey to get there"? Wrestling is first and foremost a story. A story with a begining, middle & end, Each story needs a hook and a plot. This is what makes the emotion when somebody finally wins that final grudge match, or gets up on 9 1/2 count on last man standing....It doesnt need the title to get you emotionally attached.

Simply saying give the title to Who ever because he's been around a while and can perfect the arm bar just doesnt cut it for me
