My point exactly.

A 400-500 day world title reign is supposed to be something special. There are only 4 other men in the history of WWE, WCW, and ECW COMBINED that have ever held a reign this long. This reign was supposed to be memorable. For the most part, it hasn't been memorable at all. Part of the reason is because wrestling isn't as big as once was, but another reason is booking.

If CM Punk can cleanly defeat The Rock this Sunday, he'll rack up there with the big boys. The legends. The greats. If he loses, or he cheats to win, then the past 430 days are exactly what Mick Foley said they were back in October - a statistic.

Everybody knows this is just not possible. I can not imagine, it's going to happen !

That's the problem though, Why isn't it possible, Punk is in his Prime The Rock is 10 years past, I'm not bashing The Rock I grew up with watching him and he was one of the reasons I got into wrestling, I just don't agree he should come back, No one from the attitude era should, Unless they are still a wrestler (kane, Big Show, UT etc) yea one off's etc but not to wrestle and specially not to take 10 months off and get a title shot. WWE wants money and as a business I can understand that but the money is for the short term. RR-WM. After that we are back to same thing, WWE needs to start building a foundation that is going to build the business and draw in money for years to come.

To me that is the biggest problem with WWE these days, Short term investment, nothing long term that's going to help the business. Giving Punk a clean win against The Rock would be a great step in the right direction but I can't see it happening.

Agreed. There is no reason why CM Punk can't defeat a guy who has barely wrestled for a decade. He's a 5 time world champion (6 if you count the ECW title), and current reign is longer than all 9 of The Rock's world title reigns combined.

I'm not trying to bitch or sound like a Punk mark here. I'm not even a fan of the guy. But he IS the top guy of the PG Era generation. As the top guy of HIS generation, Rock needs to pass that torch. He could get away with beating Cena because Cena didn't need the victory, but Punk needs the rub in a big way.

It wouldn't be just a win for Punk, but a win for every guy active in the current era. The new could finally stand toe-to-toe with the old.

Yea that's what heels do, but I would like to see some clean wins now and again, I agree with the point being made that especially the second half of his reign hasn't been anything to special. He could be any heel at any time of wrestling, I think he needs a clean win against The Rock to solidify his 'Best in the word' Gimmick.

We all know how good he is but I dont want to look back in 5/10 years time and think, he never done anything really specially with his reign when he is capable of doing so.

I wouldnt be in favor of it because there is just way too many interferences in WWE title matches lately its getting ridiculous. A Lesnar run in after a good 25 min match between Punk and Rock is a better idea, with Lesnar possibly F5ing Punk instead of Rock. Now that is a Wrestlemaina match. Rock already took on Lesnar its been, done Punk and Lesnar on the other hand would make for a much better match.

Yea that he will get heat and for any other heel, as much as it annoys me every single time, I can understand that they cheat to win to get heat, Cheap and easy. But Punk is making history, He is one of the best we have right now and I for one don't want to look back in 5/10/15 years time and say 'oh yea I remember punks reign, he didn't really beat anyone when he turned heel,' It's not going to be memorable. If he beats the rock i cant even see him winning clean at EC.

Just remember this - nobody sits around recalling the amount of times Flair cheated or got the Horsemen to do a run-in to save his title - hell, they barely even remember the guys he fought. But the weight of opinion is that Flair is a legend and one of the very best ever. So, it didn't do him much harm in the long term.
