Ryback - As Good As It Gets?

I've heard a lot of talk about Ryan Reeves/Ryback being 'green'. The definition for this purpose being - not fully developed or perfected in growth or condition; unripe; not properly aged.

Which is to say - not sufficiently experienced.

Hang on a second; Ryback's first exposure to the business was in 2004. For arguments sake, lets round that down to 8 years ago. Then, he's been wrestling practically full time since 2005. So, let's say that is 7 years to be absolutely fair.

Tell me- how long is he still going to be 'green' for?? How long are people going to be able to make excuses for his limited moveset and clunky execution? I hardly think working squash matches against lesser opponents is offering him much more of a learning experience than developmental. And his matches with upper echelon stars are just heavily scripted spot-fests.

I have nothing against Ryback but I really think this guy is as good as he's going to get. He has little to no charisma and all he does have in that regard is hype and catchphrases. They don't last.

I personaly like Ryback, and I don't think he's any greener than most powerhouses in WWE. I thought that his mic skills would be his fault, but he's quite good. I honestly don't have any problems with Ryback.

I think Ryback has taken some heat because he has "jumped the cue" as it were, being pushed into the main event before others deemed 'more worthy', but overall, I think he has stepped up well. Outside of the Smackdown/Tensai issue (not being able to get him up for Shell Shocked) Ryback has preformed very well, and as The Piper said, his mike skills are excellent and fit his character very well. Overall I was expecting a giant flop and have been pleasantly surprised.

he style of wrestling isn't the same as when he was in NXT. he wrestlers like this cause his gimmick is this. he was a lot faster as the cowboy.

also Tensai sand gag him. i don't know why people still bring that up.

I just don't expect him to be around in 2 years and on the off chance he is, I can't imagine what he'd be doing besides comedy segments

i think he has 5 years in him. he can still turn heel for awhile then back to face.

I don't see him going anywhere big, simply because a) he can't talk 2) he botches 3) people are always going to compare him to goldberg. I tried to be a fan of him last year, even defended him. but I just couldn't do it. Of course wwe will just push him regardless lol. I don't expect him to become a major star though, or at least for very long

True, there's always the heel turn. That's inevitable.

For a moment on Monday Night he seemed to struggle to lift Matt Striker of all people... I don't like Ryback, he was pushed way too fast, going from squash matches to a feud with Jinder Mahal to a Hell in a Cell Main Event on PPV. As Robstar said, all he is is catchphrases, and even "Feed Me More" sounds ridiculously stupid now.

A catchphrase is OK....when you have enough stuff to back it up. Even Cena has enough of a variety of moves - more than Ryback - and can work a mic. Give the man a damn manager. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a repeat of the Heyman/Lesnar/Big Show angle in a year or so.
