The WWE does this to keep the copyrights of the name. Where I have a problem is when you call guys like Joe Henning, Michael McGillicutty or Mike Rotundo's boys, Bray Wyatt & Bo Dallas. Let them keep the last name of their heritage.

02-07-2013, 10:40 PM #11Your right, my bad. But at least he didn't go back to K-Krush! And CM Punk is still CM Punk. I'm sorry to say, yes, I like Generico, but let's face it, it's not the biggest name out there. Let's just hope he's used more than just squash matches against Tensai, Orton, etc....

02-08-2013, 03:15 AM #13Yeah, Bo really didn't make sense as he wrestled in FCW as Bo Rotundo. As for Bray Wyatt, I like his current gimmick. The part I think is silly is we're just suppose to forget he was Husky Harris. Same with Ryback. Not like they weren't JUST in WWE as someone else. At least Tensai was gone for several generations and is new to younger fans...

And now Johnny Curtis has an accent and is all the sudden Fandango? I get the Wyatt gimmick, but they could have done the same thing with the Rotundo last name...
I dont have as much of an issue with Ryback but yeah, at least give it a decade or so. But Ryback was his name in OVW...
IMO, the biggest crime is Joe Henning. That's a 3rd generation star who can't use that last name?

Have to admit, it does not effective me as I often have not heard of such Indy guys until they actually join the WWE. so for me, as the long as the person his happy to change there name and it's a gimmick that does not undermine what they have already achieved then it's no problem. plus I think the feeling is... it don't matter what you have done outside of the WWE, it's about what you do when you are in the WWE and therefore, it makes sense to almost start again.
EDIT: The only thing I would like to see.. is wrestling generations use there real last names more, Joe Hennig being the perfect example, if you are going to acknowledge him as the son of Mr. Perfect. then why change his name. I'm a big fan of wrestling heritage and it makes me want to like the person that much more when I find out he/she is the son/daughter of so and so.Last edited by THE HEARTBREAK KID; 02-08-2013 at 11:09 AM.

Some of those guys could want name changes so they dont look like they are living off their dad's reputation. In the case of Joe Henning, he might want to go back to that name so he can get back on one of the main shows again.

I really don't believe he will get to keep the El Generico name but he should be allowed to continue under a mask. If he debuts without a mask i will be a little annoyed.
