Swagger's Arrest

The arrest is just one of a several things that makes this a different beast than Truth and Bourne. First off, because of the arrest, WWE's Wellness Poliy (which you can read for yourself here BTW) gives WWE the legal right to fire him. Course, that doesn't mean they're forced to, but they have that right.

Also, given Swagger's character, this is a much bigger deal than those two. Swagger's character is one of moral superiority and DUI's and Marijuana, are still looked down upon as immoral behavior. Sure DUI's are common and the stigma of Marijuana is slowly decreasing, but viewed by the majority as immoral.

WWE also has a history with this. Remember Serena? The straight-edge onscreen character they fired for wanting to "party hard"? Swagger's character rails against illegal immigrants and amongst the Conservative party "illegal immigrants and "drugs and alcohol" practically go hand in hand. So for Swagger to commit the same crimes that are associated with the same group he's vocal against, creates the same contradiction as what happened with Serena. The mainstream attention he's been getting from the Conservative press doesn't help him at all either.

So WWE has plenty of reasons to let him go. At the very least he'll probably lose his Wrestlemania spot and we'll get Mark Henry instead

Wasn't RVD busted during his One Night Stand run in 2005? I swore they suspended him, made him drop the title, and ultimately released him. Back than the roster was a little stronger so I don't know they can afford to just fire Swagger. Even if they suspend him, I doubt he will see another title shot anytime soon.

RVD was busted crossing the canadian border with marijuana. I forgot how much, but he was chanpion then. He lost the title and was jobbing out until he quit. Don't remember if he was suspended.

Anyone remember Randy Orton, you know....they guy that's been suspended, came back, won the Championship several times before getting suspended again? How about a guy named Jeff Hardy? You know....the guy that won the belt with two wellness policy violations? Yep, Swagger's totally fired for his first misdemeanor offense

I agree with you somewhat on the previous instances but the E has moved on quite a bit from these times.

The biggest thing out of all this is the Sammartino situation, it's been stated by him that he only decided to accept the HOF induction due to improvements in the wellness policy and the product being family friendly. Could this have any knock on effect or could this mean Swagger suffering more than if this happened before the Sammartino deal?

I have to think that Vince will treat an arrest more aggressively than a violation due to an "unknown" substance. I honestly can't recall but was Hardy ever arrested and what was he suspended for? Plus the drawing power of Orton and Hardy greatly exceeds that of Swagger (at this point). I really hope WWE doesn't drop Swags.

I think this whole thread can be summed up with two points:
1) Speculation is fun.
2) America's pot laws are terrible.

i learrned of the arrest pretty early on as my brother is a cop in a neighboring city of Biloxi and he lives in Biloxi. My first thought is he is gone/fired which is a shame as they were actually using him now. I still think is gone though, his last name is not Orton, nor Hardy, and i seriously think they will do it as to not upset Bruno. If it were me, i would just give him a suspention(which is what they should have done with Serena)- but they have to protect their image/product. I am thinking they will write him off next Monday- thought i would hope at least use him at WM as not to have yet another Del Rio v Big Show match

I hope they give him a second chance and in case they go harsh on him, I wouldn't mind watching ADR vs RKO (heel) at Wrestlemanai.

This close to WM will he get punishment? Will he be derailed from any chance of victory?

Personally I think this is a dumb time for him to do anything risky in his personal life, he's been on the back burner so long that they had to dust him off before pushing him. I think the E will stick with him till WM but then he will fade to the background and be gone from TV before SS

Match will be setup Big Show will beat him and face ADR for the title at WM.
