what makes him borderline racists, is his comments on race, it's not his "radical views" and in my opinion he goes well PAST borderline on many of them, he is just excellent at phrasing them so no one can call him out. I'm in Pennsylvania which ironically has a higher per capita of white supremists than most of the country (before any one asks or wonders, being a Non-Christian. Mixed race person with hair to his waist they really don't want to hear from me no matter what i believe). Beck Makes his money on shock value, as does Limbaugh... someone however somewhere along the lines started equating them more to Cronkite than Howard Stern, and they got labeled as legitimate pundits.

I strongly suspect, after the cameras are off, Beck, O'Riley, Stewart or whomever one's cup of tea is giggle at some of the harsh opining/stupidity they just put out in the public, because their goal is to get a reaction and they don't even thoroughly believe in some of the nonsense they're spouting. I've done my "World's Most Conceited Man" gimmick on a bunch of radio stations, the host playing outraged...and then, once we were clear, heard "Thanks, great show" from the very same person who supposedly wanted to tear my head off ten minutes earlier.

In other words, these guys are working the public just like wrestlers performing in character.

Which is all very well and good but the question is how far are you willing to take that "character"? I think when your "character" potentially causes damage to something then you have an obligation to either follow through or apologise, wouldn't you say?

Absolutely. But some of these guys are genuine ass-clowns who, like babyface wrestlers, buying into their own hype so much after a while, they start to believe they're above common good manners and sense. Then they think they're martyrs when they get fired, and claim their rights are being violated! Saddest part of all? Someone else eventually comes along and hires a Don Imus, for example...and numskulls continue to tune in!!! Wrestling hardly has an exclusive, when it comes to marks.
