I knew they would change it. El Generico, though funny, is kind of insulting to people such as Sin Cara, saying that they are all the same/generic. I had no hopes of him keeping the gimmick or the mask, so I don't think it's a big deal.

I saw the pics and boy, is he ever generic looking. He could have been any old joe from the NXT roster, he looked about as outstanding as beige paint. While I'm sure he's all very talented the fact remains that the ones who get ahead mostly in this game have a gimmick of some kind. Being B.Brian Bland probably won't be enough.

Bring back the mask I say. There should be a tonne more masked gimmicks I reckon.

Not too choked up about it. The IWC knows WWE changes gimmicks, most of the time, so why would this be any different? Plus, they act like El Generico can't get over in a different gimmick. Though, I would like him in a mask, because he has no real discernible look from the crowd, so that's no good at all.

The mask is what made him. Without it, he's just another regular NXT talent.

Really? I could've sworn it was his charisma and wrestling ability, but I guess it was just the mask all along

When WWE signs a well known Indy guy/girl you know the first thing they will spend long time in NXT, repacked and renamed. It seems they keep them there so long in hopes of fans forgeting who they once were with hope that you get invested in their new identity.

As for El Generico- I feel they should have kept him masked- yet tweak his gimmick a bit and maybe a name change(like they did with Mistico)

Of course unmasking someone works too- I thought it was a horrible idea not having Dos Caras Jr masked- yet WWE proved me wrong- as he is doing great as Alberto Del Rio

You'd think after the success of CM Punk as a guy who came in with an established name and persona and the flop of Tensai as a guy coming in with a fresh character who has a history as someone else, they'd smarten up and let another guy with an established character and an established buzz keep all of that and come in as the guy that they're known for.

But this is WWE- they have to control and own everything and everything has to be their idea. CM Punk was lucky though- he toiled away in OVW, then ECW(WE) with Heymen being there for him along the way. I'd think if it were not for him- Punk would have another name now. But I agree with you- with some of the people coming in they actually have a starting point with them, some kind of background

Bryan Danielson couldn't be just Bryan Danielson

Claudio couldn't just be Claudio

Chris Hero couldn't just be Chris Hero
