Yes kofi does deserve to at least be at the bottom of the main event. He gets good pops and is well liked by the fans. It just baffles me why the iwc hates him. You all would rather have Barrett? Hes boring as hell. Antonio cesaro is also but he deserves to be in the main event? Lol give me a break.

People dislike him for the same reason they dislike Cena and Mysterio: One dimensional nice guy characters who cater to the kids. They lack attitude, and edginess. Cena's at his best when he's aggressive and in your face, not pulling any punches (in matches or promos). Kofi showed some of that same attitude in the Orton feud. A heel turn isn't the definitive answer, but him being less of a sesame street puppet for kids and more of a bad ass that EVERYONE can get behind is crucial to him maintaining the main event status when he gets there.

And yes, he DOES need some real feuds with real contenders. They keep making all these crazy on the fly decisions with storylines. The feud with The Miz could've gone longer, but they decided to go Face with him out of nowhere. He could've had a good long feud with Barrett, but I don't know what the hell...It looked like they were gonna put him back with Truth, and go after Sandow and Rhodes...nope.

Now there's nothing. I think they should work him into this thing with the IC title, leading to a fatal-4-way at WM, if nothing else.

On the main page is an article about Kofi feeling he is close to breaking into the main event. This topic does come up quite a bit to a mixed reaction.
The way i see it, Kofi is the face equivalent of Dolph. the workhorse who goes out every night and puts on a good show. It seems that Ziggler gets a good backing from most of the IWC. I feel that the only reason for Kofi's lack of support is that he hasn't had much of a gimmick to play on and the way that creative uses him. He has been around a while now and just on work rate alone deserves a shot in the main event.
What are everyone else's thoughts on what is holding Kofi back?

His goofy always happy attitude that coupled with the fact he hops about the ring a bit to much and he could do with toning down the theatrics a wee bit.

Honestly, I think it's because he's black. Think about how many black wrestlers other than booker t and bobby lashley have been in real main event status.. And every one needs to stop with the whole heel turn bull shit. That isn't the solution to everything because once the fans( not just the iwc who think they know it all) start to like them you hate them, and what good is a bunch of heels running around with no good guys to put them over??

I have nothing against Kofi as a talent.

What I don't like about Kofi is that he's in this limbo where WWE decides not to push him, yet he's treated as the God of the Midcard. They put him on a pedestal, and no other midcard face is allowed to be booked as credible as he is, except for The Miz and R-Truth, and that's ONLY because they're coasting off of residual heat from their main event pushes. Whenever a top level heel needs a win against a sort of credible opponent, I sigh in annoyance because it's ALWAYS going to be Kofi. None of the other faces are given a chance to prove themselves or to get over because Kofi is the token midcard face. On top of this, he wins the midcard belts over and over again and does nothing with them.

Other talents like Tyson Kidd, Justin Gabriel, Alex Riley, Santino Marella, Zack Ryder, or Brodus Clay are never given such treatment. They will be booked like total jobbers while Kofi gets to put on semi competitive matches with important people. Sure Kofi may be a better worker or more over than all of them, but all of them should be pushed to his level of credibility in order to create the illusion of a deeper roster.

I like Kofi the way he is right now, but he won't be main event material like this.
He needs to turn heel, make him a paul heyman guy, change his look, put him in a feud with kane or miz or bryan, occasionnally tag team with punk and I will like him even better.

He needs to do his "controlled frenzy" gimmick in a substantial way, like once he starts losing he freaks out and just beats on his opponent

He reminds me of a young Jeff Hardy. He's a spot show and entertaining, but needs something to push him over the top (like how Jeff Hardy did vs Taker in that famous ladder match or like how Shelton Benjamen stole the show at MITB). If they go the heel turn route I'd say he needs a faction and maybe make a new NOD with Truth and Big E, but his goody goody attitude is bland and while he has sparks of true entertainment - he just isn't memorable.

On a side note, I disagree 100% with the RACE card - too many other factors are involved.

biggest Issue with Kingston imho is that they just refuse to book him in anything that resembles a story line. his feuds are trite and because of that he gets no mic work... no interest yet he STILL keeps a fan base and puts on entertaining matches. his run with Orton shows what he CAN do... give him a shot in the top tier if nothing else it will solidify his function in the midcard as the go to "credibility builder"

Kofi has had plenty of time to shine and he's made the best at what he's had to work with. Needless to say I think he's gonna be one of those guys who stays on the mid-card to upper mid-card for the remainder of his career.

He's got the talent to be a main eventer though without a doubt.
