Vote for Cena! Are you kidding?

I spit out my water when I read the below but what are your thoughts?

-- WWE issued an e-mail blast pushing fans to vote for John Cena for ESPN SportsNation's 1st Annual Awesomest Dude Of The Year Award. The WWE Superstar was trailing American soccer player Landon Donovan by 20,000 votes on the Facebook poll when the e-mail was sent out. They asked fans to continuously vote for Cena.

As a wrestling fan, why would you not want Cena to win this? I do wish people would put aside their petty dislike for Cena and admire him as a human being.

Agreed. Why wouldn't you want this publicty for the WWE? Regardless of what you think of the man as a wrestler, try to think of the man as a man, and by all accounts, he seems like an "awesome dude," in real life.
WWE resigned Punk, and everything I've said has come true on these things, so WWE, keep Punk a badass face. He will become a legend if you do.

It's nothing personal against John but we hear enough about Cena even when its unnecessary and this would just add to it.

Am I the only one who finds the irony in someone complaining about hearing enough of John Cena in a discussion that they started that is, well, about John Cena?

You are absolutely right! It is ironic and I also have read plenty of your posts and know to NOT debate with you and I thank you for your knowledge! -Bows in defeat and gracefully walks away-

Iron ape you just won the In all honesty I would give you an award on damn near every post you make but I wouldn't want anyone thinking I'm cheating on my bromance with Robstar.

WWE has enough publicity. A ton of famous celebs use wrestling catch phrases all the time from the WWF era. They get credited for having some of their former talents to break into Hollywood. They brag about being better than any other show. This would only be another notch for their belt if Cena were to win. Sure he is probably an 'awesome' dude suddenly, but if I remember correctly Vince Mcmahon revealed that John Cena stepped over people for his own gain during his early years with the company. An from the looks of it Cena is winning anyway. The guy has a lot of young fans that support him. It would have been funny to see The Miz on that poll. It would have made sense. To 'me' atleast.
Hey.. I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know.

I voted for Cain Valasquez. I just know that if Cena wins they will brag about this all year long.

It would make a good storyline for Cena if he kept bragging on winning it- turn the fans against him- a reason for him to turn heel. Come on WWE, if he wins this thingy, do it!
