Great triple threat main-event match tonight on Raw. On an otherwise lackluster show, all 3 men delivered. I was hoping Jericho or Miz would dethrone Barrett, but the second I saw Fandango in the backstage segment, I figured the title wouldn't change hands. The dirt sheets are apparently right. It'll be Barrett vs. Miz and Jericho vs. Fandango.
That brings me to Wade Barrett vs. The Miz at WrestleMania 29. If this title match happens, and I'm assuming it will, then The Miz is your next Intercontinental Champion, and the reason is simple:
Babyface Miz is the male equivalent of Kaitlyn.
Remember how Kaitlyn was always the constant contender? How she would recieve random title shot after random title shot for months on end, and every time she would come up short over some BS? How she would never be soundly defeated and would usually end up standing in the ring pissed off? She finally won the Divas title of course, but only after recieving 4-5 different shots against Eve.
Switch the word "Kaitlyn" with "Miz", the word "Divas" with "US / IC" and "Eve" with "Barrett / Cesaro", and you've got the current situation in the mid-card. Like Kaitlyn against Eve, Miz has recieved 4-5 title shots against a secondary champion, and has come up short due to BS. The injury at the Rumble? The DQ at the Chamber? Holding the tights in the 2 out 3 falls? Stealing the pin in the triple threat? Standing in the ring pissed off afterwards?
Same shit. Different wrapper.
Miz will defeat Barrett at WrestleMania not because he starred in a movie, or because he's "undefeated" at the Show of Shows, but because there has to be a pay-off to his constant title shots. If he were to lose yet again, everything creative has done with him since the beginning of 2013 will have been a giant waste of energy and time, and I honestly don't think his already-criticized face run would recover from it.
