To me, if you aren't willing to commit to a movie in it's entirety, you have no business offering a critique about it. I'm not saying that movie watching has to be super serious but come on - it's an hour and a half, give or take, of your life. Movies, much the same as music suffers from a stigma of existing in the echo of all movies - good or bad - ever made. There will always be comparisons and it's fucking crippled the creativity of movie making and story telling.
To be held hostage by the past is a tragic thing - and every new movie gets held in contrast to what amounts to the unmeetable standard that esteem coupled with rose coloured nostalgia inevitably brings.
