Actor Discussion Thread

I started this thread for the purpose of discussing actors anyone may like and wish to talk about and encourage others to watch. There are no hard and fast rules aside from the usual ones of respecting the opinions of others and try not getting into any of Matt 'Grape Ape' Hardly's sour grapes.

I first saw this guy in Alpha Dog, which I really liked, also he was quite good in 3:10 To Yuma.

I really like this guy. First became aware of him years ago in a movie called The Stoned Age. Never thought he'd do much back then but imagine my surprise when he started showing up in movies more recently, namely; Extract, Crank:High Voltage, Boondock Saints 2:All Saints Day, Star Trek and I marked out a little bit when I saw Scott Pilgrim vs The World and he had a small role. If you don't know him - you will.

Who would have thought the kid from 3rd Rock From The Sun would end up as, in my opinion, one of the very best actors going at the moment? He is the ONLY actor I could imagine that could reprise Heath Ledger's Joker - not that I would want that - but this guy is the shit. I saw him in Killshot and all I could think of was how good he was. Also great in 500 Days Of Summer - this is a good movie disguised as a chick flick. Worth a watch. He's also in G.I. Joe and 10 Things I Hate About You.

Sharlto Copley.
I've only seen this South African actor in two films, but I thought he was amazing in both. As Wikus, in the controversial, yet thought provoking and entertaining, District 9, he commanded the screen like a pro. For a relative unknown (I'd never heard of him) I reckon he did marvellously well. His role as Murdock in the A-Team (yeah, I liked it. Blow me!) was hilarious, and I thought he nailed it perfectly. I look forward to seeing more of this guys work.

Gena Rowlands playing the mentally disintegrating housewife, and Peter Falk (COLUMBO) just being awesome.

And I would pretty much consider anyone's opinion on acting completely irrelevant if they've never seen "12 Angry Men" before. No special effects, no action, no cinematographic porn, only one setting, only twelve (unnamed) characters.... the only things this film relies on to make itself compelling is dialogue and acting, (with a bit of subtle direction) and by golly is it compelling. Pretty much a 100 minute *clinic* of what good acting is.

I'm not one for watching the oldies but I may actually watch 12 Angry Men. I just watched the trailer on YouTube, it looked quite intense!

Also, I pretty much thought that, until I saw The Dark Knight.
