Gentlemen and... well, we all know there aren't any ladies. Gather around for another tale from "Rome's Creative"!
Today we'll be exploring an idea that never saw the light of day and was only referenced between a few people. This wasn't even a JBW project. The name of the project currently alludes me, but it was something around the lines of "North Atlantic Championship Wrestling". That's right, as part of an original idea pitched to a man who will remain nameless at this time (because I don't know if he wants to be mentioned along with this failure), I planned to open yet ANOTHER EWN E-Fed.
But this wasn't your standard E-Fed. "NACW", as I will call it from now on, was meant to be a special E-Fed based around a revolving door of characters. This E-Fed was based on an idea I still consider revolutionary for this forum. The entire point of NACW was to be a developmental federation. Yes, the E-Fed would be based around the idea of working with members on their characters (including a few bots for jobbercake) to get them ready for and moved to the bigger E-feds: JBW, EWNCW, and HWA were the three we were looking at working with, with the smaller E-Feds eventually coming.
Since everyone would know what they're getting into with the E-Fed, this worked out well for both the member and the E-Feds. The member got a chance to show off their character and hone their personalty. The E-Fed would get a chance to see how each character would work out and think about how they could use it. And the E-Fed would actually act as the agent for the member. We'd handle offer inputs, including the member in on all the info. The decision in the end would come down to the member in the end, although we would never guarantee a thing once a member left the E-Fed.
The real brilliance is we were trying to include management level workers from the E-Feds we were feeding into by letting them work with the members. Each member would get a chance to work with all of them at some time and when a member signs the contract, they would begin working exclusively with the worker from their new E-Fed. Now, we would try to keep it all secret as much as possible until the contract signing on the show and the writing off of the character--we would refuse to work with an E-Fed that burns us on the right to write a character off before they appeared on their new show. We even had a spheal that if the champion "defended the title successfully five straight times, they would be guaranteed the next contract to walk in the door".
Now, the downfall was laziness. I disappeared from posting for a long time and the idea just fell to the wayside. I'd still like to see it done, but the logistics (and getting past the egos) might be hard, but the group effort of improving new characters, I thought, would bring the community together.
