Randy Orton as the "fan favorite" WWE champion.

How is he gonna pull this off? He has barely done promos as the "fan favorite." In fact he hasn't talked that much. His "Viper" and "Apex Predator" stuff works best when he is a heel and he does his best talking as a heel and I wish he stayed that way.

Judgin from his crowd reactions over the last few months, it doesnt sound like he has a lotof work to do. the fans love him. I can't see a "Save Us/Save ME" situation like we had with Jericho (almost no crowd reaction, either way.)

He should have no problem as the champion this go 'round. Calling Orton a face is a strech, he is more of tweener, or Austin-esque anti-hero. Orton himself prefers to be a heel, but he is a good enough talent it is going to be hard for him to remain a heel because the fans recongnise and appreciate his talent.

I was cheering Orton long berfore it was in vouge.

Last night we saw a little glimpse of how he's oing to be used - they obviously know he wont work great on his own as a face champ - before Orton had even said a word, Sheamus interupted the promo. He's definitely going to be more of an anti-hero type character, judging from this. While Cena can make a room go wild on his own, Orton can't - the audience just prefer him to the heel in question

I think JR alluded to it best when he said that Randy brings a taste of the former Attitude Era to those fans who long for it. I see a little Austin, Rock, or even Taker in Randy. He is exciting to watch simply because u never know what he is gonna do next.

Orton has no choice in the matter, but as long as he continues to do what he does, who cares? He IS the new anti-hero, and all the comparisons to Austin are on the money. Austin never "turned" face, the fans simply embraced his brash, over the top personality, and loved him because he was so exciting to watch. He just started wrestling heels... that was the only difference. Sound familiar? Orton got his following by being the most exciting, unpredictable segment on Raw each week. He proved during his last major injury that the show is not the same without him, and when he returned for the Legacy angle, even though he was inactive as a wrestler, he was very much an ACTIVE part of the show. Be a heel all you want, Randy...just RKO Sheamus, Edge, and Wade Barrett every now and then...you'll be just fine.

though they are trying to book him as a tweaner they are doing predictable face segments with him and his persona just can't pull that off. Whenever WWE turns a popular Heel that gets cheers face they start taking away what made them interesting. Rock and Austin were allot more entertaining as Heels.

My thoughts exactly.

He is more interesting to watch that ALOT of the roster right now, you just dont know when he's going to hit that RKO.

I can see Orton being a great face without having to do much at all, he hardly needs to do promos or backstage skits. He just needs to be in the ring with a heel taunting him or talking trash and then sink that RKO in from nowhere. You'll get a pop everytime.
