    bad news for anime fans

Yahoo! Finance reports that 4Kids Entertainment has filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy status. 4Kids confirmed last week that bankruptcy was an option for the company after Japanese companies TV Tokyo and Nihon Ad Systems retracted 4Kids’ distribution license for the Yu-Gi-Oh anime franchise and filed a lawsuit against 4Kids charging unpaid debts. Chapter 11 bankruptcy will allow 4Kids to continue business operations. The company has been steadily losing money and was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange last year.
:mad i cant believe this is happening

    Nothing of value's been lost.

If anything... this is fucking great news for anime fans!

Seriously, 4kids was a fucking shite production company. With years of insulting the intelligence of their audience and putting out some of the most atrocious dubs ever seen (they infamously messed up the localization of One Piece so badly that they eventually lost the license for it), they damn sure earned their reputation as being the worst in the business.

And now it seems these sleazy motherfuckers were hiding money from TV Tokyo... the creators of their most popular (and profitable) series.

Hopefully they'll go on to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy and get killed off for good.

I'm with Necro on this. I hate 4Kids. Not losing sleep over this.

Meh, the only thing possibly lost is that they dealt with a lot of "entry level" anime, good for kids who don't give a shit about subs and dubs being done proper to get into. The only good anime on anymore is Naruto anyways.

My son's the big anime conneseuir while I mainly watch more of the mainstream stuff like Spirited Away, Ergo Proxy, and Cowboy Bebop. He hates 4Kids with a passion and is happy they've gone bankrupt
