Ryan Giggs is a great, great player. Considering his age, he was great for United this past season in the PREMIER LEAGUE.

Beckham is in MLS which is about equal to LEAGUE 1! He's 1 of their key players for LAG and he's been below par for his abilities.

Giggs' lost to Man City on GD, Beckham is 6 FUCKING POINTS BEHIND THE WHITECAPS.

The reason they play as different countries in football is cause Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland all have Football Associations. For example, the Scottish FA exist and govern Scottish football and the national team.

Meanwhile for the misc sports like athletics. None of these have 1 and we're Team GB. Plus we move up the table more if we're united lol



The Northern Irish and Welsh FA (Might be the Scottish, it's definitely 2 of the FAs) don't actually like the thought of Team GBFC. But since we're hosts they're doing it as a once off...UNLESS Team GB do amazing. Then they may stick around for 2016s Olympics. So it really is important Team GB does well. Else it might be another 50 years before we see them again.

For those slating the inclusion of Giggs and the "outrageous" omission of Beckham are blind people that have probably not watched Beckham playing football for 5+ years.

Beckham is playing for a team who's standard is that equal to League 1/Championship in this country, and frankly, he's playing average for them. Whilst Giggs on the other hand is playing for one of the best teams in European football at the highest level (albeit he's a squad player now). Giggs might not be playing 40 games a season any more, but neither is Beckham, but the fact that Giggs is still playing 25-30 games per season (he played 33 in all comps last season), and is still a difference maker in Manchester United's team, and all at the grand age of 38.
What has Beckham done to deserve a place in the side? He's not playing anywhere near top level football. He's not even playing very well for that team. Other than the simple fact that he is still playing football, he's not really got much of a case to argue frankly. And before anyone says anything, being at the forefront of helping London winning the Olympic bid doesn't = a place on the team. Based on that criteria, Seb Coe should be chosen to run the 1500 meters, right?

It's a no brainer that Giggs deserves his place ahead of Beckham in team GB. Anyone suggesting otherwise seriously needs their head checked out.
