Yes it would. Take away the 15 goals that Suarez has scored for you, and you'd have minus 8 goal difference, same as Sunderland who are in a relegation fight.
Take away the 16 goals that RVP has scored for United and we'd still have +10 goal difference, which is more than what Liverpool have at present (that's with Suarez' goals).
So yes, it would be that drastic.
If we didn't have RVP, Welbeck would have had more games, Hernandez too in the early season (where we played with RVP and Rooney up front), and both would have contributed with more goals.
