Also.. I think you are missing the whole point. My suggestion.. would be to help the Europa league because it's a poor standard compared to the Champions League. The Champions league is more appealing to fans now right? Well would you watch the Europa league more if those teams were in there? Yes.. you would. People would still watch the Champions league, off course they would. How do I know? Because they did before. It was a Champions format with a straight knock out many years ago. Because there was only one team from each country.. You would often find different supporters of clubs in the same country getting behind that one team.
Plus leagues are growing all the time. Couple of years ago you would not have blinked at a Russian or team from the Ukraine, now.. nobody wants to play them.
Shak Donetsk (I assume they are top/won there league.)
CSKA Moscow/Zenit (I again assume it would be one of these.)
& More: Zagreb. Anderlecht/Standard Liege. Galatasrary. Olmypiakos list goes on..
The downside would be the poor teams just starting but surly as Champions they have earned the right to compete at that level and it's not like you don't get small/poor teams in the Champions league now. This would force big teams left out to compete harder in there own league and make the prize of winning the Europa league that much batter if it was a route into the Champions league.
This is just my opinion and something I would like to see personally. As I said many times, I hate teams who win the Champions League and yet get nowhere near there own league title.
