Yeah I think that's possibly the reason but still... for them to do that, it would require them to have a little sympathy (not sure if sympathy is the right word) towards the killer, which is strange considering what the killer probably did.

It has to happen, even if the lawyer believes the client to be guilty he is still being paid to help. He has to do what he is being paid to do.

And that person chose the wrong career if they can't stomach defending the guilty. Regardless of the crime.
