Game of Thrones isn't quite elite level television, but it is really damn good. And it most definitely is better than the recently-improved Walking Dead, just by nature of being far more consistent (it also having 3-dimensional characters certainly helps, too).

I think a lot of people go overboard with their love for the show simply because they're shocked to have a genre show that isn't the kind of SyFy-level drivel they had become accustomed to expecting, which is understandable.
