I'm going to say - without looking it up or any prior knowledge of the details (though I have seen the movie) - that The Butterfly Effect is based on a much better book (more likely short story) written by someone like Ray Bradbury or Robert Heinlein and possibly based on an existing scientific theory.

Someone tell me how I did.

It can be considered a 'Cult' movie.

And I actually thought the film wasn't that bad, Ashton Kutcher aside it had an interesting premise.

I haven't watched it but it was huge in america. it's essentially a movie about how doing one thing effects everything.... like a butterfly flapping its wings might cause something much more drastic to happen.

Yeah not shit man, the clues in the title. Lol

If you're really going to try somewhat explain the movie then it's about a dude who travels back in time by writing that particular moment in his journal and when he fixes that problem, he creates another issue for the future which he then has to resolve again.

It's an interesting story on paper though it didn't translate as well in to a movie.
